Ok guys, I've racked up over 1000 impressions within a few hours with no clicks, is this normal? I'm not concerned as I'm not paying anything yet but I'm just wondering what I could expect. This is certainly new for me!
If that all on the content network, it's not unusual. If it's on the search network it is. But I would assume that those are content network impressions - give it 24 hours or so, run a placement report, block any sites that are completely unsuitable, and have a look at your keyword list and see if the 'theme' of your keyword list is being misinterpreted and make necessary adjustments. And separate out content and search into seperate campaigns.
Thanks for that reply. I am using quite a few keywords, how many should I target? I'm hoping to narrow down the ones that are performing best and see how they go. Any tips are appreciated.
Turn off the PLACEMENT ads NOW! If you are new to adwords, running on the placement (old content network) is a big NO NO because it can be very difficult if you don't know what you are doing. Good luck!
I'm not running placement on ads, I didn't like the idea of that and it's something that many people I know said not to do. I made 1 conversion after spending £10. Nice stuff there! I need to get to grips with my keywords a bit more and see what other promotions will work better. I think I'll have a go at another campaign. Thanks for the advice.
Things a little bit better today after launching some more campaigns and testing my keywords, I'm still a bit confused by negative keywords though? Someone enlighten the process please? I've had 2 clicks so far on a new campaign and 1 conversion so got a nice little profit there, not much, but a start. Kind regards, Carl
Actually negative keywords are easy to understand. Note:You don't need to have negative keywords if you have exact match keywords. Negative keywords are keywords that you don't want to be used to find your ad. So if you are let's say selling some adwords e-books you probably don't want no money crowd so you should use the negative keyword -free.So when someone put's in their search query free your ad will never show for this keyword because you have used negative matching. Example: You have targeted the keyword adwords ebooks(broad match) and you used -free as negative matching,so your ad will show up when someone searches for adwords ebooks, best adwords ebooks, buy adwords ebooks...but not if someone searches for free adwords ebooks, adwords ebooks free...because you have free as negative matching so your ad will not be displayed. Hope it helps.
Thanks for that info, I'm only targeting some keywords that I've searched for and dug deep enough to find *hopefully* performing ones. @InternetBomb: I'm not saying which for obvious reasons but I'll say it's quite a popular one. I've had a bit more success since I last posted. Had a play around with more keywords, Spent around £1.15 yesterday and generated $5.60 in sales. Much better when you look around a choose better keywords I guess! I'm going to have another look at my keywords and try to get some better ones and see how it goes, I'll post another update soon.
It means you have high traffic keywords but that either your placement is bad or your ad is bad. Try looking into split testing or changing your placement.
Guys, I have an offer I'm allowed to promote my search, does this mean I have to turn off the content part of the adwords settings? So my advert only displays when someone searches? I'm wondering as I don't want to get banned from my affiliate company. Thanks!
Like posted above content impressions stink so does there traffic source and is normal to get that many with no clicks but if it is just search related then something is up i would suggest we word your ads
