New to ADWORD Campaign

Recently i have started adword campaign for my site and while setting up an ad i have added "all countries" feature to show my ad. Now when i try to search in google with targetted keyword then it doesn't show my ad in sponsered links. But in campaign summary it shows me 800+ impressions with just 2 clicks.
Can anyone tell me why i can't see my ads in google.

When you're logged in, it tells you your position number. For example 2.0 refers to the first ad on the second page. 3.5 refers to the third page about right smack in the middle and so forth. It seems your CTR is pretty low. You can actually optimize your keywords to make sure they are REALLY targetted using broad match, exact match, content match, and negative keywords.

It really depends on a bunch of things. Depending on what market you're trying to monopolize, 30 cents does seem a bit low but if they're targetted and doing the job, tne that's great. But if your CTR is low..then you may want to find some other keywords that relate to your advertising web site.

Does your CTR include adsense adverts?

Perhaps it's because I'm targetting quite a narrow market, but I find content advertising to be pretty useless - very low CTR, never had a conversion from it yet!

By contrast, for search terms I get between 2-15% CTR and a decent amount of conversions.

I've now disabled content ads for my campaigns; you might want to consider thinking about your target market and deciding whether you should do the same.

I have changed my campaign and raised maximum CPC to $1+ earlier it was just 30 cents and still i am not able to see my site in google sponsered links but in impression it shows that my ad has been displayed. It says my average position for targeted keyword that is "directory submission" is 1.0 . How can i increase my ROI?

Perhaps you have not selected "India" to show ads. Being from India, I too cannot see the ads, but using an us proxy I was able to see you on sponsored list. :)

Your statement doesn't seem to reflect Google AdWords help explanation about Average Positioning. Am I confused?

    https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14075&ctx=en:search&query=Average+Position&topic=0&type=f

I'd like a clarification as to Average Positioning of an ad.

    Thanks

It doesn't! I realize there are alot of other factors that may cause an ad to change position, but according to that link I provided, it clearly states that an ad with an average position of 1-8 is generally shown on the first page because a page can only have 8 ads on a page, and 9-16 being on the second page and so on. So, when an ad has an average position of 1.7, this indicates, to me, an average position between 1 and 2, existing on the first page. The '1' doesn't indicate a page, nor does the '7'. This doesn't always hold true exactly, thus the term 'average'.

The point I'm making is that the explanation gave about ad position by Charless didn't make sense to me after reading that FAQ. I have some keywords at a position of 7.8 which still means my average position is somewhere between position 7 and 8 which still keeps me on the first page.

I was just questioning the difference in explanations. I'm new at this and need to understand, so I don't mean to criticize. :D

    Thanks all!

    Crazy_Rob,

No...no problem with my ads being displayed at all. I was just questioning Charless interpretation of the average position. I thought I understood the FAQ correctly, but since this is a new venture for me, I tend to think whatever someone puts on a forum is correct. It's where I find most of my information. I guess I need to learn to sort out the good from the bad info.

My ads show up fine and get adequate clicks, but according to Charless definition of average positioning, I shouldn't be getting clicks at all. I thought I understood the FAQ correctly, but after seeing that thread, I had to be sure and question it.

Thanks for the verification. :) I feel better now.!
