Hello, I just got my account approved and just wanted to put in the adsense asap. But now that everything is settled, can you guys please take a look at the site and tell me what you think of the placement. From personal experiences, what is the best place type of ads to use? What is the most successful? Any/all tips would be great, thanks!!
On your home page, I only see the one ad square on the upper right...which is a good place for an ad, so keep that spot. When I click on the comments of your "How to buy running shoes" post, i see a couple of ads showing there. That's a bad place for ads in my opinion, because you're assuming that people will click on the comments link to get there. You want ads where people will see them easily. I'd change that ad you have on the right to a text ad (that image add has nothing to do with your blog subject). I'd place a 468x60 banner right above the first post title, in the white area. Blend the background and make the ad title the same color as the "choose the right running shoes" color. I'd also put a 160x600 wide skyscraper on the right side column down below your search bar OR put another 468x60 banner in between your first and second posts. Always blend the ad backgrounds to your blog background, and keep they text colors similar or matching text colors of your blog. Hope this helps.
@christian231 or anyone else: I also installed a wordpress plugin (Adsense Injection) and it is currently putting random ads on the individual blog posts. I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it, or if I should place the ads on a specific location each time. Thanks.
I have never used wordpress, so I can't assist with that unfortunately. I'm sure someone else will be around to help with that issue. As for your ads, the rules I go by are, keep the ads in easy to view areas, above the page fold if possible. Always blend the background of the ad to the color it will be placed on. No borders, blend those also. Make the Ad TITLE the same color as other links or header text on your site, and make the Ad text/URL the same color as the bulk of your site text. You should have good luck if you do something like this.
