I'm a mere amateur, but on my first pass over your site the ads didn't catch my eye at all. I had to scroll back to look for them so you might want to do something about that.

    *and I couldn't smell a thing. ;)

You have to scratch them first, but they all just smell like a computer monitor to me.
I hope I didn't catch dog flu, getting my nose that close! ;)

Well, I'm not a web professional, just an interested user so take my opinion as such. Honestly, I don't know what I'm talking about but I won't let that stop me. LOL

On the home page, maybe you could place your ads at the bottom or move them over to the right column, where the white space is. If you want to keep them where they are, a border around the ad block would make them pop out a little more...that might be a good thing to try.

On your inner pages, the ads are too obvious. I usually leave pages like that very quickly figuring it's just made for adsense so why waste my time. Your articles aren't very long, try putting the ads at the bottom of the page so they can be clicked after the article has been read. With a short article like that, the ads will be visible even if your visitor chooses not to read the article, but at least you give them a choice before getting in their face.

Of course I could be wrong, this is just based on my surfing habits.

I like your topics, good luck with your site. ;)
