New TLD released - ME.PN, Today!!

Yes, I am the founder of this registrar. And, no, it's not yet ICANN accreditted.

I feel this is the appropriate topic to report this, as it's in domains. It only supports the "me.pn" TLD domain, and it is a sTLD unfortunately. It's from the ".me" extension, and expanding it to ".pn" which means "Personal Network". So, totally it would accumulate to form "My Personal Network", being the official TLD for it. It's not for commercial sites, but for people to make personal websites with a great domain for free.

All registrations are for life, and the company will make it's revenue one way or another. We've got a lot lined up, and I know the client panel sucks. But, we're new - what can you say?

We're trying to get support for nameserver changes, which our script can't yet do. But, shortly it will be available. Until then, you can use our Semi Dynamic Linking System or redirects.

It is the official registrar for free personal websites, and all sites are connected to Google so they will be indexed within 72 hours (or they should do). Also, we've got alexa to make all .me.pn domains have their own alexa ranks, so you should be okay with them. Compete and Quantcast, I'm unsure about.

Btw, lots of domains are available and we do allow for them to be resold. And, a lot of 2 letter domains are ready to be registered. It's a great opportunity.

I have just registered several great domains.
Just waiting for the automated name server system, don't want to bug you guys with that.

But you say here that it's not for commercial sites, at the same time the User Agreement says the following: "When registering a domain name, you are registering it for legal purposes only. Commercial use is permitted, but not for an illegal purpose."

It's kinda confusing if you ask me :/

And another thing that would need to be fixed is the current "Change Domain Server Linking" and the "Just Redirect To This Page, Please." options. When I try to save my change I only get "You forgot to fill in most fields"
Edit: Works fine in IE, bugs at Firefox.

    Thanks for this free service!

    Thanks for your concern.

The nameserver system is being reprogrammed so it may be a while, but we have a similiar algorithm developed (temperarily) that does the same nameserver linking. I've had one of our techies make a blog with a post containing the system and how to use it.

    http://blog.me.pn/2008/12/30/what-is-domain-server-linking-and-how-do-i-use-it/

Well it means it is available for commercial use, but for example "designer selling work" as that for commercial use. I'll get it rewrote in a bit more detail.

The one letter domains are all available, a-z. I'll let you buy them, $15 each - forever. You'll never need to renew. Spread the word, we're working on affiliate based commission area shortly.

We also have a facebook group = http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41906768538

    Thanks!

    It's not "me.cn", it's "me.pn"

me.cn is amazingly slow, as I can tell. but my site is blazing fast, because it's got enough power to last me a good while yet.

Yes, log into your account and then you'll be able to change it to your own DNS through an IP or have a redirect.

It would be pretty short for me to call it a subdomain. If this was a subdomain, then "com.in" and those types of domains are subdomains also then.

Technically it would be a subdomain, but it's too short to feel like one. My competitor is CO.CC, because their TLD doesn't have any meaning at all - I'd think my TLD would populate more as it's for people. People use their TLD for websites, and then they get no sales because people don't like free domains. But, I don't think it will mind much as it's for profiles and because they have a more variety of domains to pick from.

Yeah, I've had to follow some rules and appose to trademarks. It's part of the limited agreement the registrar has to legally follow.

About 800 names are reserved, so they won't be used for illegal purposes or offenses against big companies. Trademarked domains are not available to sell and will only be handed to the proper companies. Some companies have already claimed their trademarked domains.

What domain, and I'll see whats up.

dlatua - Go to your account panel, and click on Enable Domain Server Linking then in the box below enter one IP from your current hosting server. Or, the first IP from your first nameserver.

If you are unsure on how to get the IP just enter your first nameserver at http://me.pn/tools.php and then copy the IP displayed into your account box.

Btw, DNS propagation takes up to 15 minutes (not 72 hours). So far it's taken no longer than 15 seconds.

As I can currently see, someone else beat you to registering it. Sorry.
It's why you should register your domains faster. :)
