hello webmaster In the image you can see after URL red marked united states what does that means and one more thing similar sites option is missing. Why search results are showing like this?? thanks in advance Regards Arun
but this site is not from US its from India and what about similar sites this option is missing any idea hotpop??
you can set it in Google webmaster Tool - The location or country you set there will reflect in Google SERP's
Google has expanded its search function display. What you are seeing is by default. (United States Location May have been take from the site host, if the website has not provided any location details(map ETC).) You have to reset the Google Search Settings which you prefer. Thanks juliereader i had checked my webmaster tools account geographical location is set to US thanks for the solution. Any idea about why similar sites are not showing.
By finding other sites listed on pages that link to the specified page. I use the related: search operator, which returns the same results as the Similar pages link. EX : related:www.googleguide.com
If you are using Google webmaster then you can prefer location for any site. If you prefer UK or US then most probably your site will rank on your chosen location.
Hi! Thanks, Are you logged in Google Or not? It is important because if you are not logged it is a great improve
I checked the whois information of the domain in the screenshot provided and I was able to find out that it was hosted with dreamhost.com while the registrar's contact information shows that the owner of this domain is from Delhi India. Based on the above observation, I think the United States indication does not represent where the domain owner resides, but where the domain is hosted. FYI, dreamhost.com resides in the US, thus any domain hosted on their server will inherit their location which probably is the reason why United States has been indicated as its location.
I got something similar to this earlier today. For a Swedish website it showed United States. Very weird...
I'm in Australia and all our sites are hosted in the US. It looks a bit odd because one site has something like 99% of its traffic from AU. The reason is pretty simple - AU hosting is bloody expensive compared to US hosting.
thanks for the help webmaster i got it but what about similar sites option missing can anyone tell me the reason?
The Similar link displays websites similar to the site in the relevant listing. To know more about similar check this
This is new too me too. I doubt they would take this info based on the location of your host. I think they would base it on what target country you have specified in your Google webmaster tools account.
Just like you add in Google local business listing so they show your website status with united states.
thanks for the link open-seo its helpful but the site above mention is about gears and there are lots of site about gears in India itself so there should be similar site option.
hmmm soon every little piece of information will appear under the search engine listings. I think personally this is a bad thing, listing the country I mean. Firstly it's bad if they are listing incorrectly, in this example, a website as in the United States when it is in India - who cares where the host is based, you want to know where the business is based. However, some online businesses ship worldwide etc. but, personally, say I wanted to buy a hat, and I did a google search and I saw a website selling hats and then it listed the website as Australia...I would immediately think 'oh that's too far away' and go looking for another website. I don't think countries should be listed for this reason, it will take businesses away from websites that people might ordinarily visit.
