Hi everyone, im new at digital point and lately have been contributing to the forums.

I am a 3rd year university student and just need some people to shortly take a look at my new website (alpha) and comment on any aspect of the website for use with my testing / evaluating.

My website is hosted currently on my domain so thats why the link is long..

    http://bendonald.co.uk/studentshout/main_login.php

I am really interested in any comments / tips for future development.

Note: it is still in the alpha stage so styling etc is still along way off deployment standard.

Thankyou very much for your time, it is greatly appreciated...

Personally, I think it looks good. I like the color and the design BUT...

Here are some things I think you need to add:
    - A nice, elegant nav bar
    - More content on the bottom
    - A better footer with it centered
    - Maybe add an image or something ^

Well done, like the design, just a couple things I have noticed which could help you in the future.
The logo at the top has been trimmed too close so you can see the top of the logo is slightly cut off, the shadow is quite big its making it look like its on a different background.
Maybe make the icons a bit smaller so that line up with the line height of the text. Any way what do I know, good effort!

I'd use a different font for the header, also consider giving some preview for your content so people are encouraged to sign up, also important for search engines. If your content requires registration to see, people can't find it on google/yahoo etc. But, if you make your content previewable without registration, more people could find it and as a result they will register and your site will have more traffic.

Thanks guys for some well constructed comments. @mayflower, I understand what you mean about having all the content within resitrcted pages, i could possibly provide a list of about 10 reviews on the front page with a limited amount of characters per review and they have to register to view the whole article... Plus that if done correctly would keep the front page content fresh almost daily.

    Thanks again : )
