There are more member sites going to get hammered as well. Look at this url:

    http://www.collegesurfing.com/content/resources.php

At the bottom of the page study the resources area. Notice they are all member websites.

The spammers are seeding their back links. Once google finds the back links then it will start indexing the spam. This a very highly organized attacked and the sophistication is beyond awe.

There are tons of pages like this and their main function is to seed the links to Google.

This is an update about the Russian spammers. It appears the membership sites that I quoted are using the PLONE content management system. Thus the Russian spammers are exploiting a flaw in the PLONE that allows them to spam Google.

Plone.org from what I understand is being hit pretty hard as well and are working on a fix for it.

I searched for one of my domain names in Google and came across this site kehrrare.info that doesn't have that many pages if you do a site search. But if you go to that site, then it must violate all googles TOS to 500%.
All you see when you go to the site is a google ad, and you have to scroll down the page to even see anything, and what you see is scraped search results (?) with no "live" links at all. What is interesting though, is that you see a lot of info domains listed in the results. One of them is khmerrare.info so I checked that one in google and that site is mentioned in 557 pages, which is not very much, but they are mentioned in other spam pages like khoonew.info and it goes on and on......
My question is, do they still have millions of pages but spread out on thousands of domains with a smaller amount of pages? Another question is, why are they there at all?

Yes, they have millions of pages, hundreds of millions.
Why are they there ? Sometimes Google are not banning spam sites, they are looking at the big picture and instead of banning them they are using the repoted spam sites/pages to make their way of discovering spam better so that the next time somebody launches that kind of sites, they will be banned automaticly.

Doing a search for "spanish lessons london" , I find a lot of spam as well during the last couple of months.
There is a site in 2nd and 3rd position from the first 10 in the list that provide language trainers. At the top of the page you can find a menu; click over any of the languages offered and it will display an extensive list of pages (all of them having exactly the same content). It doesnt seems to me to be duplicate content, but multiplicated and doesnt trigger any penalty. Really they are training us to make spam...
Now, do the same search for "spanish courses london" and realize they are the winners too.
But that is not all, the last 3 domains in the bottom seem to belong all of them to the same company; just small variations in the domain.
    Is THAT SPAMMMM????

This is not bound to be spam. I did not check it, but do thay have useful content ? If so I would not call it spam even though they are in the top results with many pages. I mean, thats what we all are aiming for and some of us are not spammers.

Hi. You dont get my point, read a bit between the lines please. You cant tell if its spam or not just by what magic pants are telling, he have to give more info: URL. And I mean that in general, it doesnt have to be spam if a site has many similar results on the top of the serps.

    Mike,

I'd post the same thing on google group http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help

I've had good luck getting a response there. Every time I submit a spam report, I also post there, takes a few days an then the offending domain is gone.

    Good luck.
