Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe most of these problems with Google started when Yahoo baited them with that 20 billion pages indexed “press release”. While Google said that only quality counted, in reality only a short time later, Google, remove the 8 billion pages indexed text from their home page and then all kinds of crap started showing up in their index. This “mine is bigger than yours” teenage game was bound to lead to problems for Google. I think someone high up in Google wanted to get their index to 20 billion as soon as possible too and that is a big part of these current problems. While I’ve seen bad updates from Google before, I’ve never seen this many problems happening all at the same time.

I don't think people investigated so much either. The yahoo google thing you mentioned. Correlation != causation. I think its more a matter of google behind the spammers; like MS is behind the hackers. The spammers/hackers are more creative, because they are motivated. Google/MS can only play catch up.

No this is beyond the spammers being more motivated IMHO. Google seems to be getting downright complacent and misplaced priorities. They seem all about the spin doctors and less about quality. It's like the whole thing with me finding 10 million pages of spam in 2 hours... it's so much that I found it as it is that they not only couldn't, but that they also tried to play it off like it was some random glitch that they quickly fixed.

I mean, I even offered to write the bot that I used and just give it to them. They just ignored it though.

What makes you think they couldn't find it? What makes you think they weren't fully aware of the issue?

It's going to get to the point where every webmaster is going to spam Digg with spam articles about spam in Google, sort of like the Pixel craze, problem is many of these stories are going to be fabrications just to try to draw attention and traffic, you can only reinvent the wheel so many times folks!

It's the latest craze, "Spam about Spam" :p :p :D

Just an update on this... well, it seems google de-indexed arefoundhere.com completely. So I guess they really did fix the problem. I've removed my script from the domain... hopefully google will re-index it. Anybody get their own scripts to work?

Speaking of the site operator misbehaving looks like the inanchor operator is busted too. Or have Google switched this off? I 've noticed it for about 10 days now.

I never found much of interest there...heres a couple of comments I came across....

Over at digital point forums, I recall they won't let you post for 7 days, and even after that it was only in limited places, and then another 7(?) plus maybe 10 posts before you have site wide privelages.
    Something like that I believe.

    And this from the bosshog.....:D
But, like dd says, Newbies buy stuff so i am not gunna kick them out because i need money to but drugs and whores.

Can't find anything about Nintendo....yet

So are you thinking they left it in on purpose? I mean, yeah, alot of the sites I found were using Adsense, but still, that's a little tin foil hattish...

Ummm... I think he was quoting something he saw on syndk8. It's the whole context thing. Could be wrong though.

No. I'm suggesting they were aware of the problem but were trying to figure out how to repair it via the algorithms. Then when it hit the front pages, they no longer had that luxury and stuck in a quick patch or used manual intervention.
