I don't know if it's Matt or not but you should let him know that manually banning a few sites is a far cry from "the spammy sites" being gone. There's tons of them still there. -Michael
The race to fill up the Internet is real interesting. Consider this. Pretend that I'm Google. The Internet is very big and so far I have the best grasp of it, in terms of search. MSN and Yahoo are close behind me--they have a good grasp, but not the best. I have the resources to out-hardware my competitors if it comes time to battle. I decide to change my algorithm to stimulate the Internet's growth. The Internet expands more quickly and changes in response to my new algorithm, and as I've induced the changes, the growth is more predictable, manageable. My competition on the other hand is caught off guard, needs more employees, hardware, bandwidth, etc. It's like I'm simultaneously cooling and surfing a huge wave like Iceman and you're following me like GI-Joes on ice-skates.
Well Nintendo always got some nice thread ideas, this thread rocks, very very interesting lol, never thought that could be possible to get a billion of results for such spammmmmmmmssssss

Results of a MASSIVE Google Ban Spammers depend on Google BIG time as can be seen with the massive Google ban that just occurred, of over seven BILLION pages. http://digg.com/technology/Results_of_a_MASSIVE_Google_Ban_-_7_BILLION_Pages http://www.webmaster-headquarters.com/Spammers/ Sometime, last month, five domains that were registered between May 25th and May 31st by the same spammer used a sub-domain trick to get as huuuuge lot of pages indexed in Google. More info on it here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=97090&referrerid=2089 If it's so easy... why can't the rest do it... just can't come to terms with the fact that how he could get so many pages... first of all... just calculate the time period... the work involved... breaking it down.... pages per time involved... even if he uses links, caching, just about any strategy... maan, if it's true, we are in the wrong business... to make it worse, the alexa effect is convincing (somethin we must try one of these days) http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=97090&page=32 Can't believe the quantity though.... must be about 10% of the amount mentioned... even then ! Phew And here I am asking guys to visit my sig file once in a file...... maan....so stoopid !
IMO, Alexa proves him and the other Spamoogle guy wrong!! Matt has a LOT of sites linking to his blog, hince the nice PR and ranking. The spammer...only had the search engines.
Let's employ Mr. Occam... either 1) Spammer faked an Alexa ranking of 1,500 on one domain, 7,000 on another, and <10,000 on a dozen others. Spammer decided to stop faking Alexa as soon as Google started banning his domains. Spammer had some good reason to fake Alexa. OR 2) Spammer had a lot of traffic. I'll go with #2, Wink.
Nice to see him taken down so fast! I've been a regular eBay user since the 90's - and I can't tell you how many times I've seen a fraudulent auction (that was reported to eBay with 9+ days remaining) for hundreds or even thousands of dollars never get shut down... But, then again, it's sad that you have to be this blatant a crook (and give them a ton of negative publicity) before Google will even lift a finger.
