Does it really matter HOW he got there-- on what kind of links? The main issues are that Google is dumb enough to consider each one of those pages a new site and that AdSense is dumb enough to keep serving him ads.
I delete several junk posts from guest book everyday full of junk links etc. We are suffering and the spammers are winning
http://2867.war.eiqz2q.org/ - This page is ranks no.1 for "war on terror pro cons". Now take a look at the content of the site, it is just garbage with absolutely nothing mentioned about war on terror.
and thanks for the comment, LaCabra.. it won't show up on the blog entry yet since I made it flat HTML. I doubt it will stand up to a real DIGG but we'll see.
Thanks! I think I'm going to mirror it in preparation.. it is a few good punches away from the front page.
I think this is slap on face of new google (bigdaddy) developments. They are dropping real webpages and adding crap in the bucket.
I wouldn't really call myself that, I've just read up enough on the subject & seen enough of it happening to know what it looks like. I like to see SEO from both sides of the "hat divide" The pages are all getting generated on the fly & they are all linking back to one another therefore the HUGE amount of anchor text is what's giving him so many high results in the serps. So he's using scraped results that link back to his own domain therefore ranking that domain with that search term..... Pretty clever, probably all written & generated from one script too..... Wonder what his bandwidth is like
I totally agree; thanks to Nintendo for bringing it up. (and I know the subject of my next DIGG.. how to make your crappy blog on a crappy shared server stand up to a DIGG)
An interesting find, Mr Hoff. This could have massive repercussions if it causes subdomains to be treated as part of the whole domain. I never really understood why subdomains get this special treatment anyway. Sure, a lot of subdomains are websites in their own right, often blogs or homepages created by one or more individuals. But if these are any good they'll have at least one decent inbound link to their main page, and therefore some indexing. So there should be no problem building an algorithm that can deal with this.
I would love to do a Google parody and make a few domains exactly like this dude did but have domains like... from-g00gle-to-you-free-spam.com or g00gle-your-spam-hq.com!! Does any one know how to get a list of all sites that are on an IP address?? I wanna see if this dude has even more sites. I think these are the IP addresses. 70.87.73.35 70.87.73.33 85.17.7.178 85.17.7.178 87.248.163.58 hosted by theplanet.com.
*Hits myself on the head.* The story is #1 on http://digg.com/ Now WHY didn't I think of posting that!!!! I could use the visitors!!! All I get is whois info, not a list of all domains on the IP address.
