I've noticed the spammer's domains falling out of a site:search. But if it's a manual ban, so what? The subdomain thing can still be exploited, and that's bad news for us all.

What happens when subdomains and their links are treated exactly the same way as folders? I'm guessing this will have a big knock-on effect on certain blogs and homepages. And, as a consequence, it will adversely affect the sort of sites that receive a lot of link love from these sorts of subdomains.

This is all assuming Google will do the right thing, or indeed that Google will be able to act on this issue in the near future. I'm sure some of you cynics out there think I'm being naive to even consider that this will lead to a fix.

But I think it would be better to prepare for a change in the way subdomains are handled, than to try to emulate this guy and build sites with lots of subdomains.

I agree. Unless the problem is fixed, manually banning the domain is only going to make the same thing happen again.

I, and I expect lots of other people, have a number of sites on add-on domains. They all have different domain names and different incoming links. However add-on domains are really subdomains when you go to cpanel. I hope this does not affect them.

I guess I just don't know my computer hardware, I still am not sure if you disagree with something I said you would try to insult me instead of pointing out the errors in my posts.

    Hi,
I am trying to put this code to work on my server

    ----------------------------------------------------
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(.*)\.
    RewriteRule ^http://(.*).w529.net$ http://w529.net/$1 [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
    RewriteRule .* index.php [QSA,L]
    ---------------------------------------------------

The basic idea is when anyone types http://world.w529.net is redirected to http://w529.net/world
Anyone knows why is not working
    Cheers

It's the weekend, google just sent in some joes to manually remove these spam results from their database, on Monday they will get the programmers to fix the logic bug that allowed this to happen. Don't worry, I'm sure google will be on top of it very soon and this particular exploit will just be an interesting talking point.

but I don't know but it sure is the same script running on another domain.
I hate these guys! They steal content from other sites, submits to the stupid Google SE that just swallows whatever they have been served with if it fits their outdated algo and then they say "Wow... these new pages fits just perfect!!! We gotta get rid all the old sites that's been spamming us for years"....

in an earlier post. A lot of my sites have been scraped by these SOB's and I have reported it to Google several times and the only thing that happened was that one of my sites disappeared from Google so now I am not reporting shit anymore to Google.
Google doesn't care about these sites and if this thread haven't been they would gladly have displayed all these spam sites! Seems like they don't do a quality check before they release anything. They are running their crappy algo and whenever someone reports anything that just fix a "bug" but doesn't realize that some quality sites also disappear. Frankly, GOOGLE DOES NOT CARE!! The only ones Google care about is Google.
