Hi ya'll. I'm a newbie, be gentle. Any help appreciated. The site: www.restauranttrader.net I have backlinks in MSN (#72 for "used restaurant equipment") and Yahoo! (#232): http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?...ww.restauranttrader.net&srch_type=0&FORM=QBRE http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=li...et&fr=FP-tab-web-t-288&toggle=1&cop=&ei=UTF-8 Google also has indexed/cached a few of the pages that link to me, but apparently haven't followed the links: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&client=safari&rls=en-us&q="restauranttrader.net" The pages with links I bought from phonelosers.org have also been indexed and cached with my advertisment on them. Do you think that 100+ links from one IP has caused Google to frown on my site? Googlebot visisted on Aug 2nd and crawled EVERYTHING, and again on Aug 4th and crawled my index/register pages. Still nothing indexed. Thanks for any help or thoughts! ~Brian
Yeah, just give it a couple months. MSN and Y! get results much faster than Google. My newest site went to #7 in MSN, for the relevant search phrase, one week after I published the site; getting that position in Google will take a lot longer what with the sandbox and all... Patience is the key.
Yeah, I figured "patience" would be the tip for Google. What about MSN and Yahoo!? Does a Yahoo! Directory listing help in Y! serps better than a link with equal PR & relevant content? Business.com? I think $299/$199 are too much and that I'm probably better off submiting to more sites like Site-Sift... any paid directores (<$50) that MSN and Y! love? Or is a link a link? My competitors seem to only have DMOZ going for them, so I figured I might be able to beat them with a few paid listings while I wait for DMOZ...
Links are not equal; the PageRank of a given directory page will likely be a good, though by no means foolproof, ballpark indicator as to how Y! and MSN rank it as well. As for being listed in the Y! directory, just do an archive search here; it's been discussed several times.
Google *may* hit you with a duplicate content penalty unless you do a 301 permanent moved redirect from restauranttrader.net to www.restauranttrader.net. Right now you can reach the same website from both URLs. You can search Google or these forums to find out how to do a 301 redirect.
