Hi, I recently created a new site, Its only been indexed in google for about 2 weeks. it wasnt very competitive jeywords i was targetting and i was on page one for most of the terms i was targetting, now it has dissapeared from all the terms... it is still indexed by google but just not showing up on any searhces, unless i type in the domain name then its at bottom of page 1. I now this kind of thing happens with new sites, but im just wondering if anyone has any more information in this kind of thing... Ive heard before, and even experienced it, where new sites rank well, then dissapear, then come back, and take a while to settle. does anyone know for sure what happens here?? will it come back as strong as it was? when will it come back?? any info would be good thanks.
I was hoping for something more along the lines of... Yeah this happens to all new sites on google, it will return in... a few days... a week...2 weeks?? Anyone had experiences of this??
Yes, I experienced the same thing. I call it the Google honeymoon period for new sites. I kept adding to my site and kept building relevant links and it took about 4 months for it to come back well in search results. It's not as good as it was during those first 2 weeks but it is constantly improving as I keep working on it. You just have to be patient and keep working.
This is indeed a common thing for new sites. You can expect to be back in the rankings within 6 months, but if you have alot of unique content and keep upating fresh content then the process will be faster. may i ask if you have any duplicate content on your site?
Its not duplicate content, but to be honest, its various bits of content that ive re written on my own words, i was pretty confident that it was different enough to not be classed as duplicate content. Hopefully it will recover soon as even the really long keyword phrases that i would defo expect to get in the first couple of pages for its nowhere. I'm sure it will recover in time... hopefully not too long...
It's normal and happens, you need to keep on adding more unique fresh content and getting more links instep for your website to rank once again
Yeah it's happened to a number of my sites which are new. It usually comes back I think. One site (2 weeks old) I had got on page 1 for about a week, then disappeared for about 2 weeks, then came back for a few days then disappeared again, and now it's back. I didn't touch a thing on the site. Some sites don't seem to be affected and some are.
This just happened to my site now [the signature].I continued writing articles and now everything is fine .
thanks Bob, i'll keep my fingers crossed it comes back... The only thing i was thinking about, is that, when i was waiting to get google to index my site, in my mad rush as usual, i copied and pasted blocks of content from my page to create an article and submitted it a handfull of article sites. Looking back, now it seems stupid of me because now im worried google is classing my site as duplicate content because a good few of the articles were indexed before my site. Do you think mine will be the site classed as duplicate content, or do you think it will be ok because the article pages are linking back to my site??
it happens all the time. you will ikely come back but not as strong as before and settle down from there
@buckyuk I think you should not worry, having one article marked as duplicate will not destroy your rankings, sure this is not the best way to do it, but if google would be so strict about it, then a lot of other site would be thrown down in the SERP, so dont worry.
Thanks alot, i'm always the same, always trying to rush things Just need to learn that workin with google takes time. thanks alot.
Perserverance is the key. It's always difficult to carry on with backlinking, and feel like you're not seeing any immediate benefit. Sadly, it takes time to see the results.
