New site - wanting feedback

I have been working on a site related to the practice of cryonics in the UK - looking at the legal and practical aspects mainly.

The site needs to look reasonably professional so i'm looking for some feedback on the general design and any bugs:

    Any advice is appreciated

i would say make it comply with IE. Not everyone uses Firefox. The site is very plain in IE and is all text. There is no real logo either. One of those would be good, provided it looks professional and clean. Best of Luck!

It's no great shakes in firefox, either. Users should not need to scroll horizontally at any reasonable window size, yet I do.

You certainly will want more content on that index page, and some tasteful and professional looking images will help a great deal.

Clean is good for professionalism, but I would focus more on the existing content. I'm referring to wording and the like of your about page mainly.

When it comes to a choice between complying with the standards and making it work in IE I choose the standards. If you can figure out how to make it work in IE while still validating then i'll be happy to hear your suggestions.

Is there a way to fix the scrolling issue (Unfortunately I only just realised this, I always have my browser maximised).

As for content, this is something i'm still working on - want to get the layout perfect first.

Not sure what you were referring to on the about page.

I looked at the about page, and while I'm not sure specifically what cldnails refers to, I would call your attention to this:
First, it is "set up" not setup, but I think "launched" or "founded" is a better choice here.

Second, improving the chances of cryonics patients...improving the chances of what? getting thawed? Getting frozen in the first place? Getting cured upon thawing? Getting a body transplant for their severed head?

The overall copy on that page is weak. It could use some punching up.

In terms of the scrolling issue, the worst thing about it is that when you do scroll, the text scrolls over top of the left-hand navigation. I'm sure there's a cure for that, as I've never seen any other site suffer from it.

    Good luck.

That's pretty much what I was referring to Mister Tut, and you should not phrase it as 'myself', it's more professional to reword a majority of that to show professionalism. Keep in mind, I am by no means a professional, lol, do as I say, not as I do. ;)

I've managed to do something about the scrolling issue which makes the text scroll underneath the navigation menu. I think I need a CSS guru to fix this. As for the about page, i've reworded it slightly but could still do with another pair of eyes on it.

It seems that the page is framed. This is not good for search engine rankings and will make it almost impossible to get a good ranking. Can you change this?

I am working on moving the domain elsewhere, currently the content of the site is more important.
