New site, should i put ads on it right away or wait.

Im currently developing a new site, which i expect to grow a good base for traffic very quickly, but i was wondering if its best for stats/smart pricing if i wait until I have a solid amount of unique traffic before adding the ads to the site, or if i should just add them when i launch the site? i hope this is in the right forum, if not feel free to move it to one of the others. Thanks guys

They don't really tell us everything about smart pricing, but from what I understood it doesn't really consider the total amount of traffic on the site, in which case I don't see a reason to wait 'till the site picks up.

Now what I want to know is how you can be so sure to generate lots of traffic and fast ;)

no guarentees, but ive been researching it for about 4 months now, and the site will be hopefully launching in october. There are only 3 main sites that really compete for top spot on google, and i think mine will be better or atleast equivalent to all of them. The click values for this site are very low, so im relying on heavy traffic. This site is based on a product that recieves an excessive amount of searches every day, and like i said, there are only three main sites on this top that i will be fighting against for top spot in google. I will be adding the url to my sig once the site is complete, so you will know exactly what the site is about then. like i said, there is no guarentee, but im pretty confident ;)

lol, thats actually been my problem with adsense, i suck at SEO, but i think this will be my bid breakthrough site. im mainly making this site because i want to crack the google top 10, and not so much worried about adsense and revenue(its just a nice bonus;) ), and i think this site has the potential.

    Yeah, that's a good attitude - a challenge!

I have had some success with SEO (with my first sites), but these days tend to get bored with it, don't do it throughly and get my sites stuck on 3rd results pages :D

Seriously though, if you found a good niche, that's 50% SEO right there.

ya, the 3 sites that i will be competing with are in the top 10 results for about 400,000 different search terms :D. They are database sites on a specific topic. There are only three main sites because the database on the topic is so big that there arent many sites out there that can acquire all the info, so i think this will be my best site yet.

...as it turns out the total number of results is only a remote indication of competition for a keyword, but 400K is still quite doable with basic SEO. Remember the 'sandbox' though (if it's a somewhat competitive field, G may keep you out/push you down the results for some time).

Smarpricing is based on how well or not your traffic converts for the advertisers.

....and it affects ALL sites on your Adsense account. If you have one poorly converting site, it WILL most likely drag others down.

First time visitors account for most of your CTR, so the decision is yours.

that sucks. so if i use a site like dp with revenue sharing, and my ads do poorly, could that result in the rest of my sites doing worse?

nm, my mistake, i think its more the conversion on the site that they get directed to when they click on the ad, not necessarily my clickthrough rate. not that anyone actually knows, but im just going to pretend it works that way for now :)
