I just started a new site and am wondering if there is something special I need to do with a brand new site? I'm doing the normal blog posting, forums sig/profile links, article writing and all that but is there something extra to get the ball rolling so to speak?

    Hey inomcoke,

Some of the best things you can add to your site to raise the SEO ranks quickly:
    -Daily articles
    -Images
    -Videos
    -RSS Feeds
    -Comment section
    -Blog section
    -Links
    -Backlinks

    Hope this helps!

How about giving it some social media love? Submit your articles to popular social bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit, Stumble Upon, Mizz.

What sort of market are you catering to?

If there's a local market - then the best place to start is right at home - signup on Google Places & Bing Local.

Then start seeking citations from major local directories (yelp, yellowpages, brownbook, merchantcircle, etc).

If you have customers - get reviews.

Once you start getting in some local traffic, then take a look through your analytics data - find the keywords that are bringing in traffic, and develop those areas. Build on what you already have and you'll find progress comes much quicker, easier, and with less headaches.

i have found a few good backlink services on fiverr - if you can get a good article in your niche, formatted in syntax, you can order a gig that will submit your article with 3 backlinks to seo linkvine + article ranks + ama for $5 - the links will be spread out and indexed over time. just a thought. good luck.
