New site, new domain - how to start off well?

I have a new fresh domain, with no history. I've also just completed a new website. In the next two weeks, it should have approximately 2,000 pages. Anyways, how should I go about linking to it to get indexed from google and try to avoid bad filters and such?

I have a couple other PR3 and PR4 sites, should I link from those even if they are unrelated?

I would start slowly, try to get a link from highly related site that gets spidered frequently. (Signature here will get it spidered.) Add to a few directories and then start link building in earnest.

Some say non-themed links are discounted. I have seen no evidence of this but would want to begin with a few pertinent links..

    Good luck.

As Smyrl said, gradually exchange links with quality, high PR sites. And most of all, have patience. ;)

And you can hire me. :) Hehe

Or, some of the things i would reccomend are taking a close look at your navigation. Make sure that the SEs can navigate to the all the pages and you use keywords in your internal links. Internal linking is often overlooked and can be very valuable. Use keywords in directories and file names. Use this page as a helpful tool: http://www.seomoz.org/articles/search-ranking-factors.php

Can you elaborate more on internal linking? If you were using Google's Sitemap feature, would proper internal linking matter less?

    taken from my site:http://www.ecentralmarketing.com/2006/03/seo-glossary.html

Links that point ot pages that are in the same website. Good internal linking can provide a boost in the search rankings. Good internal linking is the use of key terms in the link text. Many web sites use internal links with a link text like "Click here" or "Learn more". These link texts (anchor texts) are not optimal from an SEO stand point. Instead, the anchor text should briefly describe (using some keywords) the contents of the page that it is pointing to. For example, the internal links that are pointing to a page about Wilson tennis rackets should have keyword-rich anchor text like "Wilson tennis rackets", "tennis rackets" or "Wilson rackets".

One way links are most important for search engines. Try to place your link on high PR websites to boost your rankings.

Implementing good internal linking structure is very important, regardless if you have a sitemap present or not.

Oh, right, right. I thought that the internal linking structure was meant so that Google could spider each page effectively. So, instead of a link back to the homepage that says "Home", you'd want a link that contains your keyword. If your website's title has the keyword your targetting, that would make it much more easier because of the anchor text.

X2. Start adding links to good directorys and other sites such as myspace and what not. Those should help somewhat in SEO and clicks :)
