New Site Linking - Best Practices

Wanted to hear about people's new website linking methods. We launched a couple of new sites recently...last 30 - 60 days. A couple of them had links pointing to them from a number of our other sites; pointing to the index page as well as a few internal pages. Sunday, we had one site (that had 700+ pages in the G index on Friday) dropped from the index...and no more Gbot visits, which it was receiving daily. Another site appears to have the same thing happen today or in the last couple of days.

So, I am wondering if anyone has an experience with what "too many" links may be for a new site and how long any "new site status" stays with a domain.

    Chachi,

I'm not so sure that "too many" links are the problem.

Example: I registered a new domain in September and as of right now 3,660 backlinks are showing up in Yahoo. The page hasn't been dropped by Google.

You probably just got sandboxed. Just keep making links from relevant on topic sites and check back with Google in about 60 days.

well, there is having links sandboxed and then there is having 700 pages in the index and not showing up a couple of days later.

I am thinking that maybe the fact that ~80% of the IBL's were to internal pages right out of the gates that some kind of filter was tripped. The site is gray bar now.

    Could be the "mysterious" sandbox.

For my new sites, I point around 20 PR6/PR5 pages from my own network. Plus a few PR5/PR4 from link partners. The new site gets indexed quickly and receives its PR5 on its first public update.

    Thanks.

also was it suppages or subdirectories?

    eg
    site.com/yourpage.php
    or
    site.com/yourpage/

PM me the domain. I had a similar problem recently and was able to fix it.
