Hi, I made a new site 2 months ago or so, and it didn't get indexed by Google untill recently. During these 2 months, I did link buildings through forum posting and do-follow blog commenting. So, before the site got indexed I had already had 150 or so pages backlinks (According to Yahoo site explorer...not 150 SITES but 150 PAGES, just to remind you). I know basic SEO, so the site is well optimized for the keyword. Recently my site finally got indexed by Google, and I checked my ranking. It was 40th. It would not be an issue if the page showed on Google was the index page(home page). I know it could be a very slow process before a new site get high rankings. The problem here is, the page which showed up on G with the keyword is NOT the home page, but a sub page, like mysite.com/page1.html. And my home page(index.html) is not ranked at all within 1000th (I used a tool) with the keyword. (Though the index page is indexed.) Can you explain why it is happening? The only thing I can think about is Google thought something was "unnatural" with my index page because it had a lot of backlinks when G found the page, but it's not my fault!! Another thing I can think about is the links were "unnatural" because there were so many backlinks with the same anchor text. Maybe I should have put links without anchor here and there but it's too late...but do you think it could be the reason? Any thoughts, advice etc would be appreciated. (BTW it's not indexed by Yahoo yet...)
You need to provide your URLs (for the home page and the URL that is ranking) and the keyword phrase that the other URL is ranking for if you'd like to get some help. There are LOTS of reasons this could occur. But without the URLs/keyword phrase we'd only be throwing out wild guesses.
if you were penalized, your subpage would not come up on search result. somehow google thinks that your subpage is more relevant for the term you are targeting than the index page. its hard to tell without your URL and how you are doing your link building. if you are submitting to useless sites and have a competitive niche/term, then 2 months would be too early to tell consideing your site is 2 months old and you just got indexed by google recently and still not on yahoo, my guess is you are not using proper link building methods. you can get a site indexed in 10 minutes of you know what you are doing while most people manage to get their site indexed within a week or so.
I agree with above...either its bcoz of improper optimization or if sme other reason, then what we need is his URL.
First, always give the URL. It helps to get advice. Second, set up a Google Webmaster Tools account for the site. After about 1 month, the information contained helps you understand what is going on. Third, since it is a new site, it is in the "Google Sandbox" - see DP thread "Sandbox". Finally, fill out your Signature section in DP. The links will help you get your site indexed and provide you with links.
Yeah, most advice you guys gave me I do already. I use google webmaster tools, and usually with other sites I have (20 or so), a site gets indexed within 1-2 days at most, that's why I thoght it was a bit strange. I even register my site as "my site" on Yahoo. I didn't provide my URL because it's not written in any European language so most of you wouldn't have any idea what the even topic is. I guess it might still help you a bit to help me, but "a wild guess" was OK and I needed it. Sandbox...I thought about it but am not sure. Usually it is after a couple of months after your site has a good ranking and then all of a sudden your site goes down in the rankings -- way down or disapprears. This is how I understand Sandbox. It doesn't seem that way. At least my page is ranked with the keyword. I became able to use the signature here a couple of posts ago and that's not long time ago....When I posted it I think I wasn't able to do that. I'm gonna do that soon though. Anyway thanks again...I'll see what happens.
maybe your subpage has better content or better links then the index page sign up with google webmaster tools it will help you more to analyze them.
I already use google webmaster tools (I said that in my last post) and I don't provide the URL because it's not in any European language. Most of You wouldn't be able to read it at all. My site structure is very simple. 6 pages including the index page. No links in the site except the menu (which has the links to the 5 pages, each page has the same menu).
