New to this forum and recently started a new website (www.musclesportmag.com) that I am looking to get traffic to and eventually attract advertisers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not adverse to spending some money wisely to promote, either. Thanks.
Show that site off on the Bodybuilding.com forums, it looks great! Become an authority on Bodybuilding news and post your articles/updates on the pertinent sections. News on Jay Cutler should be in the IFBB section, news related to steroids should be in the Steroids section, etc. That's an easy way to gain a fanbase for your site.
put that site on your sig or atleast make it a valid clickable link in your thread above there, atleast some people here might want to visit and take a look in your site social bookmarking is a great way to generate traffic to your site. read http://www.myneral.com/webmaster/free-traffic-social-bookmarking
For starters, join high traffic health and fitness forums. Put up a link and a catcy description in your sig and contribute to that forum so people will recognize you. Blog commenting on high traffic blogs works similarly.
Thanks. Took your advice and traffic did pick up. But it has been sporadic. The highest I've had was 79 and I've even had one day with a low of zero. The average, give or take, has been in the 30's. Any advice on other areas I can look into to get it going better, even if it is paid, would be appreciated. Thanks.
Check out my post here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=911839 I think that will help. Best, Scott
You can try article writting related to your site and submit to article directories like ezine OR using social bookmarking
aah, getting links and traffic, time to link back to my SEO Tips list Read it from top to bottom. It should help you.
Try forum marketing. Just go to various niche-related forums and post your link there when people ask for a resource. It's my fourth biggest source of traffic.
dookiefans said something interesting: be patient. But what does it mean? What is a normal time of waiting, how long you should wait before getting some descent traffic on your site? And of course, I refer to the situation when it is your first site, and you don’t have another already established site you could use to transfer traffic to your new site?
Basically this should work for me. why don't you try submit your site to 1.major site engine like yahoo, msn, google, 2. social book marking 3. make some post on forums 4. write article and send to article directories 5. make some comment on blog that have PR more than 6
First ask yourself what you want out of your business venture. Im not going to say that you can not get results with $5 dollars to start, and 5 years or hard work, as I did it. Here is the thing.. you need to stop and think for yourself, say to yourself what do I want out of my venture, what am I missing on other forums like this site, and what really excite people about talking on my forum. Once you have some type of answer (That answer will always grow and change), its time to say how do I want to get the word out to everyone. If you want to submit to search engines, directories, and articles sites to get people to checkout your site with plenty of work for low results then do that. (waist of time IMO). Most sites that use articles from article sites I would delete from my server if I owned them. If you want bigger results screw article sites. If your great at writing then contact other larger sites that fit your market and see if you can write a article for them with a link to your product. IMO try to get a review and let them write the article.. Most of the time all you need is a great press release, good product and be willing to make some phone calls or emails. If your lazy to do that, checkout reviewme.com and find some sites with Alexa Ranking lower than 80k, PR3 or better, and 3-5+ comments on most post, then pay them money to talk about you. Pay 5 cent a click on other like kind forums using Adwords (Most forums get crap ctr of 2% or less), and find a way to take away their traffic. Build email list of bloggers, and other online news sources then email them that you have a contest, giving away a product that everyone in body building would want (Fat builder? ahh) to pull in new readers. Send some kid down to the local GYM and handout ads to people and paper their cars, or just do it yourself. Cut deals, and partnerships to get access to other companies customers through their press. Big results require bigger thinking! Best of luck!
