Hi all, i have made a website for my company (timber buildings) i have some knowledge of it but not much alot i have learnt from searching web. Im struggling to get google and alexa to rank me! when i do backlink checks yahoo picks up 170-180 links but google none and alexa only 2 how is this??. Google finds my site fine i.e type in garage price list or carport price list im number 1# same as timber buildings in kent im 'C' on maps. My site http://www.personalbuildings.co.uk What am i doing wrong? im trying to do this as cheap as poss so im not expecting miracles but just a bit more than at mo. the best way to see whats going on with your site and google is to use the webmaster tools they give you for free. sign up at google.com/webmaster after that submit your sitemap and do what they recommend for the crawl errors. another really good site for that (seo) is seomoz.org, they are great at what they do and have awesome free tools and guides. good luck.
Alexa will take time and a decent amount of traffic to show stats for your website. Use the methods mentions by hypes057 and you will be well on your way.
Thanx guys. I have signed up to google webmasters and verified site etc i havent done sitmap so i'll give that a go. Crawl errors not sure on status of that and how to handle probs so any tips on that would be great. Im joined to some forums and and got a couple of blogs also not sure if good or bad but WC rocket said about traffic ive listed to 5 auto surf sites and been running them for 6 days getting upto 530 visits to site so will this help with alexa? yeah that's rigth alexa takes time to show your links i have more then 385 links but alexa only shows the 385 :S
You need to understand Alexa. It is ONLY using stats from people that are USING the Alexa plugins for their browsers.
