There is a lot of disinformation spread about whether large numbers of inbound links can get your site banned. Firstly, that is complete and utter rubbish as if that were the case then this would be one of the most abused techniques out there. Why bother to SEO your own site, just knock out the competition and sit back and wait. What might happen if you get a rapid link spike (and this is open to conjection) is that you might get sand boxed (if such a situation exists). By this, some of the links and pages get discounted, your pages get moved into the secondary index and Google will wait to see whether the link growth continues at whatever rate and then your site will rise accordingly. In the fullness of time your site will rise again if you keep topping up or attracting nice inbound links.
wow that's a big numbr, but mak sur its nott a work of bots, I have noticed google blocking certain sites of more links in less time
