New Site & Google

I created a new eBay affiliate website with Adsense and made it available to the public about 9 days ago. I did no absolutely no promotion but immediately I started getting traffic from Google. Nothing amazing but 15 - 20 visitors a day and they were actually buying things off of eBay! I checked the Google placement and some pages were on the first page of search results, others on the 2nd, 3rd, and more. Then 3 days ago I only had 7 visitors, yesterday only 2, and today none at all. Why the immediate "surge" then a trickle down to no visitors? Is there a tool that will allow me to monitor where my pages are located on the Google results?

Sometimes new content gets good rankings, but the honeymoon ends shortly after. Keep adding pages and content and you'll see your traffic gradually increase.

Don't rely on the search engines alone - they'll help, but they're not the end all be all of your marketing strategy. Promote your Web site (legitimately) and see if that helps.

Also make sure you have plenty of quality content and that your Web site is easy to use.

You just won't get much traffic from organic search unless you have good and focused content. If you want to just sell various affiliate products in cvolume you should use paid search ads, have a signup to build a list, and also use co-registration email leads (you can buy millions really cheap) and market to those leads for traffic.

Google uses "content freshness" also to rank pages in addition to PR etc. Since you got initially good traffic, it indicates you are on a niche that has good potential.

Keep adding good content and promoting your site, you will see gradual increase in your traffic numbers. You may hit jackpot if you feature somewhere on digg/reddit.
