New site getting 1500+ unique visitors in one day how can I monetise?

Ive just started a new humourous blog, with pictures as content, it got dugg, picked up by forums etc and the result is that its getting 1500+ visitors a day.

I think it should continue like this as its really exploded with traffic....

So, how much can I make a day on this kind of traffic (humour)? And how would I get ads on the site, whats the best option? sign up with ad networks like kontera?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Try to register in CJ.com and find out someting that match with your website, another way is to use chitika, Adsense, Adbrite, etc :)

    My 2 cents,

with so many visitors, they must trust you very much as an author/webmaster. try to sell something from clickbank or make and sell an ebook. also do what is said above...

    Hello,

You can check out Amazon affiliate program and add DVDs or toys about Family Guy, Simposons, American Dad, etc, or check out in cafepress funny t-shirts or something like that :)

    Best,

Since your visitors are coming from all places then they aren't targeted. It would be best if you would just place some cpm ads on it.

Yeah, either that or place ads for products that have a broad appeal (eg: ipods, ringtones, blackberry, etc.)

Thanks for the advice guys, the visitors are very untargetted. They are all interested in funny pictures, but I don't think that is any use for affiliate programs!

My question is, whats the best CPM ads to sign up for? Which gives the highest revenue and has the best/most interesting ads?

You can look in various sources that can bring you something in terms of income. 1500 visitors a day is a decent number to get something out of. Just place some ads there. I am sure it is going to be a choice well made.

What do you think I can make from 1500 visitors a day? I think the number will be more like 2000 a day...

Which networks are good? kontera? Adbrite?

The problem with untargetted traffic is... you won't know until you experiment. Try a few things, use what works best and discard what doesn't.

On how much money you may make, it all depends on the look of your site, how crowded it is with other ads on that page, where the ads will be placed, and the look of the ads.

But if you know what you are doing, count on, maybe, one-half to one percent clicking on ads. That's it!

Sorry, but that is the reality of it.

Ads that have free stuff, like cool ringtones for example, or sex stuff will get a higher rate. Maybe up to 5%, if not more.

For aquiring advertisers, go to similiar sites as your own, like davesdaily.com, and send a e-mail to his advertisers asking if they would like to advertise with you too, and or check out these most used networks:

TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia.com, FastClick, BurstMedia, TribalFusion, Azoogle, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, RealTechNetwork, Dotomi.

Try do do ads that look fun, interesting and cool, like davesdaily.com has.

Stay away rom boring ads, like Google. For the most part many people are tired of them. These ads are so common that they are quite often ignored.

Go to icanhascheezburger.com and see how they monetize traffic.

also make your site look nice and then try to find sponsor.
i think with traffic, 1500 x 30 =45 000 visitors/months , sponsor will be interested to advertise in your site.

    good Luck

Social traffic is hard to convert into money. This is because they are readers, followers and commentators, not buyers. The best kind of traffic that can give you money is from search engines. If someone is searching for a comic book (only an example) and your blog is on top of Google, you will earn good money if your Adsense has a comic book.

However, if your niche is not hot then it means only a few are searching for them. In that case, a good alternative is to submit your blog to related classified ads - free or paid. This is where the real money is.

We must remember that visitors will ONLY click on ads if they are interested in them, or if they really need them.

Ads is ads, anybody will visit it if it is important to him.

Probably the best advice I have seen in this thread were:

    1. Testing
--You don't know until you try. Try a few things out and make sure you track results so you know how well it converts. Test each method over a 10 day period.

    2. Amazon Affiliate Program
--This should convert best with the humor demographic. People like that would be interested in buying comedies or funny posters or t-shirts.
--Part 2 of this option would be to advertise a CafePress.com kind of site that is custom tailored to humor that is getting the most activity on your site. For example if they like jokes about politicians or fat women... then create a CafePress.com site that is custom tailored to that demographic.
--Don't stop there. You can also use WordPress and Joomla to create eBay Affiliate sites that are custom tailored to the same type of content.

    3. CPM advertisements
--Sign up for Adsense if you aren't already a publisher for adsense.
--Sign up for Google's Ad Manager program.
--Combine the above options and you will be able to sell your adspace on the Google Adsense network. When you have sold ads it will display those ads. When you haven't sold any ads it will display Google Adsense ads. You can see an example of this on my blog in the sidebar. I haven't sold any adspace yet.
--Don't rely solely on that. Find out where the traffic is coming from. Wherever your major traffic sources are coming from would be good sources for advertising. Contact the owner and see if they might be interested in purchasing ad space.
--You could also sell ad space to members. DP ads are free in the Buy, Sell, Trade section.... but Warrior Forum charges for its ads. This could attract a whole new demographic of people to your site... sellers. You already have the buyers coming to your site. Put both in the same location and you could have a thriving site in no time.

    4. More Tips to Consider
--Create your own product, or outsource the creation of a product tailored to these visitors. This may not convert as well... but will be more profitable. You get .10 or so per click with adsense... maybe more... maybe less... depending on the ads served. But an ad for a $47 product you own converting at 1% is worth $470 per 1000 visitors.
--This is why it would also be worth looking into products you could promote from sites like Clickbank, PayDotCom, and similar sites.
--Another option is CPA offers. CPA offers for funny ringtones and things like that my convert really well on a site like your humor site.

    Hope that helps.

Try split-testing several AdSense-like networks and choose the one that brings most profit.

In addition to AdSense and the big boys, try using XtendMedia. They focus on international traffic and can monetize that untargeted traffic from abroad. They actually optimize their CPM campaigns for you so your conversions may have a better payout...

Considering that advertising is based on a strange system of variables I would suggest that you experiment with google adsense or any other reputable company. Nobody but you can know what your website will make becuase your earnings will show it. Give it a shot. If your site is honestly getting that much traffic you might be surprised with the amount you will make. I guarantee you will not make money if the traffic is from bots or some form of traffic that is not from individual people. If you traffic is legit, as long as you place your ads well you are bound to pull in a bit of money.

    Peace,
    MW
