I am having a "rent-a-coder" create a charting feature for my site similar to www.stockcharts.com charting feature. Obviously it will be unique, but the guy I am about to hire said I should stick with PHP for this. Do you think that woudl be right for what I am trying to get? I am clueless when ti comes to coding so I don't know, but I do know that if my site becomes big one day, which I am preparing it for, then PHP won't be able to handle as many requests as soemthign like .net will. What do you guys think, what should I use? does this guy know what he is talking bout? Thanks
PHP will be able to handle it just fine. Some of the largest sites are coded using PHP/Mysql. If you want to do alittle reading, you can learn a bit more ... http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/columns/hull_php2.html That is a good article about PHP vs. ASP .net
Bear in mind that this forum runs on PHP, and it's a pretty big site. I think you'll wind up outgrowing your hardware before you outgrow the software.
I don't think there's any real difference for graphics, as neither are graphics programs. Software: Tons more available for PHP, lots of it free.
