New Site Design

Hey all, I've been toying around in Photoshop and I've come up with a design (http://www.monochromedia.com/blog/content/Layout7-1.jpg) for a new site. To be honest, I really don't like it. I'm here to get a second opinion before I ditch it and start over. Please, for my own good, don't tell me it's good if it isn't. I have no problem remaking it.

P.S. The adsense colors might change.

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hello Again Ninja Noodles!

Just out on the road doing some contract work... and thought I'd do a little DP review.... and I stumbled upon your new review request.

    My Thoughts

    Template
Not to keen on the template. I think that you would do better if the whole template was a folder with a zipper on it. Keep the color of the folder red.

    Background
If you change the template to a red folder... I would recommend that you use the header color which is a steelish gray.

    Logo Font
Definitely the font needs to be changed also. The All Caps makes it look to bold... I'd recommend capitalizing the first letter of each word in the logo.

    Google Ads
Once the other changes are made... I think that you will have a better idea of how to place and color your ads.

    Conclusion
I love web tools. This will be a good site for web users.

This review was done with IE6.02 on Windows XP SP2.

I do hope this helps you.
    Respectfully,
    Lhlalyam

Thanks again for the review, Lhlalyam! I wasn't too thrilled about this one, but I love your idea of a folder-based template. I'll get to work on that later tonight. Hopefully I can bring it up to par with your last review. :p

    Thanks for your time,
    Peter

Alright, I've started on the folder template. There's a link in the OP.

I like the second template. Finish what you need and have to do with your page first. Place the ads if you're done with the important ones.

    Hello Ninja Noodles (Peter),

Good to see the new template that you have designed.

    Some Suggestions

    Search Bar Area Color
I'd suggest that you change the color of this area to the same as the folder color.

    Banner Advertisement
Would it be possible to move the banner advertisement to the right side of the folder?

    Zipper
Would it be possible to shrink the zipper slightly and give it a little more web 2.0 style?

    Conclusion
Excellent updates... looking forward to what it becomes...

    @sb1234: Any specific reason?

@Lhlalyam, lojadeluxo: Here's the new zipper, but I can change it again if you think I should. I also tried changing the color of the area you mentioned, but it just didn't look as good. And don't worry about the ad - I'll move those around once I perfect the design.

Thanks a lot. Looking forward to your opinion.

    Hello Ninja Noodles (Peter)

The zipper looks way better! Maybe just move it down just slightly... so it reaches the bottom of the folder yet still touches the top of the folder... (being picky now).

I like what you did with the new slogan! Browse Upload Enjoy!.... it looks like a folder sticker with these words... Excellent

For the search bar area... what I was thinking was making it look like a cut from the folder.... you know how some times you can find stationary... whether it be envelopes... cards... and folders... and they have a cut out window... this is what I am thinking...

    I hope this helps!

I'm taking a break for Thanksgiving, but I'll finish more of the site on Sunday or Monday, ideally.

    Happy holidays to all!
