I am getting a new design made for my site , how do i go about registering that design under my name ( Not sure if this is possible , but if it is , how can it be done ) . The author as emailed me saying that the design and all images will be sold to me with exclusive rights.

    thanks

Putting the design in a tangible form online will be enough to grant you copyright to the works. If you want to go further than that you can spend some $ to get registered at the copyright office but it is likely not worth your time.

Since I'm not a lawyer in Australia, I looked it up for you. Australia, like the US does give copyright protection to unregistered works and it appears that there is no mechanism to even register works in Australia. Here's the link to the Australia Copyright Council... http://www.copyright.org.au/information/introduction/basics.htm

    Hope that helps.
