Ive just created a new design for my freelance web design and management site. I need lots of feedback and comments before I start to code. SO if you have any pointers or anything please post them here. www.smberns.com/smbernsv9.jpg Thanks
I tend to agree with Yankee, although the design does look clean, the bright orange tends to clash with the dark green. And I think your login box in the top left is looking a little cramped with the "Client Login" text. Other than that, nice work.
I think the orange sticks out like a sore thumb, doesnt complement the greens/yellows well at all. I think the texts in the header with the black outer glows need to go. Other than that its a real nice looking design IMO.
Perhaps making the site more of a blog that you can update easily so it's not so much of a brochure. Also, capture your designs in a separate area in case your clients modify the site at some point, (I had to learn that the hard way years ago). Make your services, pricing, order page links on the right just below your rotating recent work. Also, change the headings to the dark green or charcoal color you have on your site. Don't forget to make your links SEO friendly. There's more but that's a start. Hope it helps, David
My advice - when it comes time to start putting down markup, THROW THE STUPID PAINT PROGRAM IN THE TRASH!!! Start with valid semantic markup, use CSS to set the layout, start applying colors until you have a scheme you are happy with, THEN and ONLY THEN should you be dicking around in a paint program to hang images on the design. Starting out with a .psd is back-assward. CONTENT first, then the rest.
looks like he gave you enough advice, I just started doing things this way, And I for one appreciate the work that I accomplish after doing things this way. Brett
