    How much does it cost to have a website made? What’s a rough estimate for a site with forums, live chat, youtube video, blogs, and some news? I know it probably varies a lot but give me some really rough estimates.

    If you post on the BST (when you're allowed to) you'll get better estimate.. depends.. if you want to outsource you can get it done for very little.

    Yeah, I'm trying to build up my posts because that's where I want to post this. But I figured maybe some of you could give me a rough estimate. By out source you mean out of county? And I guess we all have different definitions of really cheap. Are we talking a couple hundred $?

    I notice a few people from India marketing their business here. They seemed to do real nice work. One of the posters said he wasn’t w3c??? compliant or something like that? What’s that all about? Forgive me, I know jack about making websites and the only way to learn is for me to ask these dumb questions. If I’m gonna pay someone I want to get what I paid for. I learn a lot from reading these forums but some of it’s hard to understand (css, java, etc.) I see people talk this code language all the time and it’s confusing. I don’t know how to tell someone I want other than just saying I want a youtube video on my site. What’s the code or name for that I don’t know?

    Time = money

    You can save one by using the other

    And then it depends on your business requirements

    A simple CMS can be thrown up in minutes if you look at www.opensourcecms.com and choose one of the systems demo'd there. Making the choice can take time though...

    w3c is just code validation. If you want a youtube video on your site just copy and paste the embedded code from that video into your website. It looks like this:

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/K2YhK4yU-6I"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K2YhK4yU-6I" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
    Code (markup):

    I appreciate everyone's info. Unfortunately I only understand parts of it (CMS??) Like I said I’m as new as they get. My training and knowledge consists of about 6-10 days of reading this forum and searching website links I got from here. I really appreciate the info though; it gives me stuff to research. I really have no problem paying money for the site. Time is money and I have no problem paying good money for good work. I was just wondering the going rate. See when I originally wanted to get this site developed I started calling developers in the phone book. The prices varied so much I don’t know who to trust. It’s the old car to the mechanic deal.

    So that's legal because it links back to their site?

    Most of these tools you can get for free...try hotscripts.com you can find a lot of stuff there. Go to scriptlance.com and post a project. you will get a lot of bids within couple hours.

    You can get it done under $1000 if you find the right people.

    Yes and on top of that they actually want you to use that code. Thats why they give it to you. You can find in on the right hand side of most videos.

    yeah, these guys are right, you can get many of these for free. I do not know your business requirement and what kind of businesses you are planning to have. But, if you really want a good website and want to do some good work, you really have to shell out money as quality comes with price. Like in a case of livechat, there are various outsource options like helpcenterlive and craftysyntax but they do not offer instant connection with your visitors and most often slow in speed. Instead, live supports like liveperson and kayako are unmatched in quality and functioning.

    I would suggest you go for combination of free and paid services.
