hi, i'm fairly new to websites, seo and putting ads on sites to generate revenue. i just started a web site in the "funny and cool" niche, similar to knucklesunited.com. i have a few questions that i hope the pros can shed some light on.

    1. what is the best way to improve traffic for a site like knucklesunited.com?

    2. what kinds of ads or ad networks (tribalfusion, adsense, etc) should i focus on to make the most money out of this niche? i know tribalfusion is stringent, but i'd like to know if others have much success with them, especially in the niche i'm in.

    3. is it possible, and if so, would it be more worth it to try to find affiliate programs and promote products and services directly, instead of putting ads from adsense or tribalfusion?

    4. do you think it's a good idea to contact certain advertisers directly to see if they want to pay for ad spots on the site?

    cheers!
    -joey :)

:::Simple rules for newbie webmasters:::: Applies On any Niche:::
    My answers to your question:

1.) Submit to Social sites like digg, delicious, twitter, facebook
2.) adsense is the king (many rules to follow though)
3.) affiliate + adsense rules as well as sucks... Many threads here in DP that suggest this.
4.) Dont contact advertisers.. let them contact you..

And just to elaborate on this, Google terms prohibit you from contacting advertisers who are already showing up on your site via Adwords.

I recommend having a range of affiliate links in addition to a little adsense. Put more share buttons on your website. do not contact advertisers. Instead, put a link on your site saying "advertise here". Hope that helps.

    thanks a lot guys.

when you say put more SHARE buttons, do you mean more social networking "share this here, digg this there" type buttons?
