Ok I just started a new blog, and I need some input on the ways I can make it better. I know there are not many links in the articles. I am using an auto poster for a couple of days to help populate the blog some before I really get started. I just need some critiquing on what needs to be tweaked. I do plan to use an Opt-in to collect signups, this will be added at a later date. Thanks everyone is always helpful oh yea the link: http://www.jointventuresprofits.com
Looks good...the only thing I would probably change to monetize the blog is move the square banners up (to make them appear instantly instead of having to scroll down) and instead of naming the space "Advertising" I would name it "Sponsors"...just makes them a little more clickable...
Looks good man! really, just an advice try just to limit the number of post in the homepage, let's say around 8-10 because if not then the page goes way to long and people don't like scrolling!
If you are planning on selling advertising in the form of 125 x 125 banner ads you will need to move them to the top, otherwise it will be hard to attract advertisers. Also, if you want to use social marketing to generate free traffic, I recommend that you read the Authority Black Book (which is free). I can also recommend some useful plugins if you want...
shadowboxing I need some help about this issue. Can you say where to get that book and recommend the useful plugins here
bitter_end: You can download the Authority Black Book here: http://tinyurl.com/4xv5an Since reading the ebook, I have used social marketing and web 2.0 properties to dramatically increase the amount of traffic to my blog. There is so much free traffic available from social marketing that it can quickly become your primary source of traffic, more than you get from the search engines and referring websites. Firstly, read the Authority Black Book and then join a few social networking and bookmarking services. I recommend joining only a few to start with so that you don't become overwhelmed. Its also a good idea to join a few blogging communities as well because they can generate a lot of traffic and help you build relationships with other bloggers in your niche (which is very useful). Blogging communities: MyBlogLog .com BlogCatalog .com These are the two main blogging communities and once you join make sure that you place the "recent visitors" widget (one for MyBlogLog and one for BlogCatalog) on your blog. Then you need to start joining other communities and adding contacts. Social Bookmarking: Digg .com Delicious .com There are thousands of social bookmarking websites on the internet but to start with you only really need these two. You can always add more later on as you become more familiar with how everything works. Other services: Twitter .com Technorati .com Stumbleupon .com I would advise all bloggers to use these services for extra traffic and more exposure. Stumble Upon will allow you to bookmark websites with the click of a button and other members will "stumble" your own blog. Technorati is the largest blog search engine on the internet and you can tag each post on your blog to get it listed for certain keyword phrases. Twitter allows you to use what is called "micro blogging" to update people about your blog and you can quickly build up a large following of readers. As for WordPress plugins, here are a few that I use: 1) Share This 2) Google Sitemap Generator 3) Math Comment Spam Protection 4) All In One SEO Pack 5) Secure Form Mailer 6) Simple Trackback Validation 7) Recent Posts 8) Related Posts 9) Subscribe Remind 10) Sez Who 11) Ultimate Google Analytics If anyone needs any help setting up their blog with widgets and plugins I may be able to help you out for a small fee (depending on what you need done). Just send me a PM and I will get back to you.
