If you are interested You may also submit your site to PR4 Directory with PR3 inner pages (With Deep links) For both Regular and Featured links
To be honest I would take $40 from the $1000 and buy a good book on SEO. When you understand the basics you will realise that a site can do very well without paying for any links.
If all you have is a $1,000 then you are going to want to get the most for your buck. In this case I would go for the strongest directories (in terms of ps) that offer the most deep links, this way you can take care of your inner page linking as well, thus making your site stronger. Although already named by others I would start from here http://www.avivadirectory.com/strongest-directories/ and then move on.
I agree with banless, go for value for money but dont go cheap. Strong PR/PS directories with internal PR that wont eat a 10th of your budget each. A totally biased but fair suggestion: www.linkheaven.net good luck
You might also like to start with the free dirctory lists whilst you page your way through that book. That is if its back links you want. But as I said in an earlier post it all depends on the results you are looking for.
I totally disagree with you. I know a lot about SEO, and rank #1 for my keywords on sites I have sold. I have never purchased more than $100 in directories before, but my new site is going to be on a much larger scale. With that extra $1000 in good directories, it will definetly help. Obviously I will have thousands of standard backlinks, but good directories are just one area I will be investing in. PS: Workshop: I will be manually submitting to thousands of free directories as well, the $1000 is towards very powerful payed/featured directories. Thanks for the tip though.
As already said and suggested by others, why not try the strongest list by aviva directory They list directories by Page strength, depending on factors such as PR, backlinks, alexa, technorati authority, gov and edu links etc. This is the best list i would go with! And by average, investing $1000 you would get listed to 40 top directories , if not, atleast 30!
May be look at the sites which the strongest of directories buy backlinks from and buy directly from them Don't forget : Related links is the key
Didnt think you were new to the industry. That much was plain from the way you phrased the question. But I would sit it out rght now. No one knows where these high PR directories are going to right now. Google is flexing its muscles and has issued a warning to all directories which if you can be bothered to listen says quite clearly 'clean up your act'. Woul you share that list? Would also be interested in conacting the submission service you use as I am sure that someone with your srt of budget knows all the right people.
What happens to a site when it gets de-indexed? Does it go directly from Authority to Pariah Status? Does it get tagged as being a bad neighbourhood? I am just wondering how many of those sites on The Strongest List had a "special relationship" with UncoverTheNet.com. We know that Googles gunning for the wide boys and if I was strutting around carrying their colours I would be getting very edgy at this point. You are judged by the company you keep. Try to understand it and recognise the implications.
