New site, $1000 budget, best buy for the money

The topic says it all. If I were to put away $1000 on my site (for directories alone), which ones should I definetly do.

PS: I have a list in my head, but I want to see my options. Feel free to plug your site if its related to the thread, and actually has PR/good links.

    Alive

I won't give you a biased opinion. Hence I won't just offer my directory. I suggest you take some serious time and evaluate many. Also work even harder on selecting your anchor texts. Also with that budget I think maybe niche would be best. :)

I wouldnt bother with BOTW or yahoo. There is no guarantee you will be accepted, and its a lot of money for every year.

If its $1000 and that's it then, as mikey1090 touched on, you need to go for more permanent links rather than yearly fee ones.

Check out Aviva's strongest directory list, its sums up strength and pricing nicely... http://www.avivadirectory.com/strongest-directories/

Edit: Just noticed someone posted the same link above while I was composing this :)

$1000 budget? Here is what I recomend:
Each directory here is either well known, professionally managed or offers great traffic. Focus on featured listings, as this is the way to go ;)

Well i dont have pr yet but pulsedirectory.com is my most worked on directory with plenty of features and time spent on it.

You can get a permanent regular listing in it for 75cents, that probably sounds hilarious to you and not worth the submission but i know that i often take advantage of cheap listings with the outlook of im getting in when the price was nice. :)

Why do you want to spend money on it? Its not a silly question either. What are you looking for traffic, PR or serps? Spend something on getting it to look good by all means and whilst you are doing that figure out what you are going to be doing with it. I assume you know that there is a huge question mark hanging over PR and high PR sites in particular.

I think im having deja vu...

And then the gods of DP created SEARCH!!!!!

On a serious note, the answer can also depend on the niche of site that you are looking to advertise.

    Answering a few questions above:
The site will contain hundreds of niches. Due to non disclosure agreements, I cannot discuss detailed information about the site, but to get the closest idea, think of it as a directory of niches, or a directory of directories.

The $1000 budget is just a number. I can invest a lot more, and a lot less, but thats just what I estimated I would spend on directories alone.

As for the thread, thanks for all the help.
