New Server Host has resulted in SEO damage

I recently changed the DNS for a website to point to a new Web Host / server. Within hours the site went from #1 to #2 in a specific Google search. It has now been 24 hours and the DNS propagation looks to be finished. Also, old host remains active for 72 hours.

I am worried about going further down in ranking.

If I change back to the old server and make everything as it was, will I probably get the #1 specific Google search back?

    Thanks!

It's been a month now, so how is the ranking now?

Around 48 hours the website went back to #1. Corrected itself. Phew.

That could have been because of somewhat little downtime google must have seen, or may be the new location was treated as duplicate content.

You never know, how google plays...

Google is such a finicky thing it's impossible to know for sure. If I were to hazard a guess I'd also guess the downtime...

Yes it will went back normal rank but it do take times.
Your rank down when at other host can be due to the gogle backlist the ip.

If you are migrating your web site. Firts copy and move new content to the new server and onl6y then try to change name servers. That will be better
