I will give 5 bucks if I can change my user name to Elvis. ;)

10 bucks if I can change it to Led Zeppelin :D

25 bucks if I can change it to VS

Or Shawn could set up a bidding system like Google Adwords so we could bid on the best user names, now that would really be cool if I could high jack the user name COMPAR :)

Well, as I said... donations will be closed once the cost of hardware is covered. There are no intentions to make anything a pay service or turn a profit at all with the tools.

So, to clear things up, is the $250.00 donation a lifetime link or just for a year?

Count me in for a donation regardless of whether you give us something for the donation.

The knowledge I have gained from this forum already is priceless.

Wondering if the "friends of Digital point" link is
1.) Different from the PR6 link mentioned earlier.
2.) Point to any one of your websites.

Of course I can cover the costs myself if I really wanted to... I already cover the massive bandwidth costs on my own, and I bought the new server last December out of my own pocket for the sole purpose of the keyword tracker. And truthfully, even if donations end up not covering the new costs, I'm going to make up whatever the difference is.

Most likely it will end up being the donations page itself (which will be linked to from every page within the tools sections (all individual pages are PR6 and PR7). Which of course can link to any website the donator wants. Even when donations close, that page will remain.

The donations page is up now:

    http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/donate.html

Linked to it from the major tools (the ones that cause the server loads) a few minutes ago, and already got a couple donations, so it might work. :)

Do you guys think it's too much blah, blah?

I think both of those as well as the donator's page are great ideas

it's insane that the server can cost that much, though :(

edit: oops, guess I'm a bit later than I thought

I'll be donating 250$ once I get my next decent chunk in paypal

Servers aren't cheap (when you start talking about actual servers, and not a desktop machine turned INTO a server). A Dell runs $11,716 and an HP runs $13,112 when configured as closely as possible (and neither are as good). Those are considered "entry level" servers too. :)

Now we need to start a new poll on how long it takes to cap out. :) I'll say one week. November 11th. I'm an optimist. Now watch...he'll probably hit his goal in justa few days. :)
