Same here- just tell me where to donate, and I love the pr 6 idea

One thing you might do, is make the donation required for sig links (at least for future members)

Count my vote for the donate and get link.
plain and simple and i'm sure will raise enough money.
or maybe we all link to your donate page with the anchor text of your choice.

all DP tools are more than worth a donation. :)

Regarding the signature link... nah, I'm not going to take things away just so it can be sold. :)

So this is what I'm maybe thinking...

Any donation is great... even $1.

For certain levels, you get things...

    • $25 you have the ability to change your user title (Peon, Grunt, Berserker, etc.) in the forum to whatever you want (stupid, I know)
    • $100 gets you some extra tool functionality (no image verification on the keyword suggestion tool, keyword tracker automatically looks up your keywords every day, etc.) Maybe some other stuff if I can think of it.
    • $250 gets you a permanent link on the donations page within digitalpoint.com

With each level also getting whatever you get at the lower levels as well...

I know the $250 level is a little pricey, but I want it to have some actual value for those that do it. Would rather have 10 links on it, rather than 100.

Anyway, that's just what I'm thinking at this point... of course still open to ideas or people to tell me I'm stupid. :)

Great ideas - I couldn't do the high priced stuff but your tools are great (I haven't used them all but love the keyword tracker.)

Well of course I know only a very small percentage will do the higher priced stuff... probably a small percentage even donate at all. But mostly wondering if those seem okay or not (in general)?

    Shawn your an idiot :D

Oh sorry, you left yourself open :)

I think you should do something yes, you can call it packages, donations or whatever.

It is still a charge no matter how it is sugar coated.

Like I mentioned, put together something that is more than fair value for the users, if it makes them money they will be happy to donate (purchase, buy, acquire, own, subscribe or whatever it is called) to the cause.

Please don't remove this post Shawn, I have been waiting for this day for a long time :D

I have to echo most viewpoints

Without the tools we would probably be lost in cyberspace

$250 sounds too much even when converted to British Pounds.

I'd more than willing donate $100 for the top tier thou

If it is a lifetime link it would be well worth it for anyone to buy sponsorship of the tools. $250.00 USD is a great deal if it is a lifetime sponsoring link.

Leeds, you are a smart man and know how to bargain, but you better not make the other members mad by taint of the co-op network.

Then they get mad at you.... :D

    your numbers seem good shawn.

as you said, you don't want everyone buying the top level anyway.

i would pay the $250 in a heartbeat and I'm sure some others would as well.

just tell us where to signup / make payment.

In the sports club world before you get to the giddy heights of professionalism you normally have debenture holders who buy debentures to fund the building of a new stand etc - they get better facilities to use than the normal members.

It is always open to new debenture holders and, when the old ones go they can get their debenture back [the funds being available of course].

You can have different levels of debenture holders if you want.

Normally when you go to a match you pay a ticket price, a contribution, to help the running of the club and normally when you join a club you pay a joining fee but, as these are excluded by the TOB [your original statement Shawn] this is not possible.

However if you use a two or three tier debenture scheme you are not.

So what I would suggest is that everybody who uses this wonderful conglomeration of tools, forum etc should be required to be a Basic debenture holder paying $1 [this is on a domain basis as determined by the number of Google apis]. They can withdraw and get their money back if they so want. The Bronze debenture.

The second tier is a $xx amount that is assigned on a personal basis and is a Silver debenture that gives privileges like above [but not the privilege of assigning their own titles - that should only be done by the highest of high]

The third tier, gold gives even more privileges and costs more.

You can assign honerary debenture holders for special service etc.

In this way all users are funding their individual use and assisting the "club" and not taking away from the facilities that other people are providing. They also, most importantly, do not have any "control" over the way the whole thing works :)

    Thanks Shawn for everything

Another vote for the happy to contribute group. Just try not to make it too complicated so I guess I'm in favour of your last proposal. A few different levels for different dollar amounts.

Just remember that if you get a lot of the $250 level then you might cover the cost of the hardware very quickly and based on your original comment, you're only looking to cover the cost of the hardware. So I'm thinking that you shouldn't worry about only reaching the cost of the hardware and perhaps considering the time you have put into this, most of us probably wouldn't have a problem with you making a bit of profit. We all know you didn't start it with the intention of making big dollars so I for one wouldn't bitch and moan if you did get a bit out of it.

Heck, with the figures you are quoting for your affiliate sites, you'll probably pump any profit from the donations back into some more tools anyway. Hint, hint...

    Thanks again Shawn

A nice idea would be to give sth, even very small, to those who donate 1$ and 10$ as well, because that could be a motivation for the group who cannot afford 25$, but still want to support dp and would be proud to receive even the lowest level supporter badge. Please think about sth for us 1$-10$ future donators because there could be thousands of us :)

Not sure about the being able to change your title part? If you did that you may have to share your "Master Of The Universe" status. The rest sounds good though. Just say when.
