For those of you who are in the SEO business in some way (services, forums, tools, whatever), I've created a new directory for you to submit to. It's brand new (in that it is empty), but I waited till the PR update to mention it, so it has a bit of PR (currently 3 on all the pages). Direct links (no redirects) for you. Does require a link to a separate site (seo related), as I am going for the 3-way type of recips instead of direct reciprocals. It isn't pretty, just a simple seo related directory for getting links. You can find it at www.seo-services-directory.com .

Just tried to add a link and received the following error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: findfunctions() in /home/httpd/vhosts/seo-services-directory.com/httpdocs/util.php on line 302

    Thanks,
    Shannon

I am still having probs. I added my reciprocal link to ***http://www.smyrl.biz/resources.htm***.

Am getting message:please check reciprocal URL: Robots.txt prevents access to reciprocal URL.

My robots.txt directory consists of the following two lines.

    User-agent: EmailCollector
    Disallow: /

    Should this be causing problems?

    Thanks,
    Shannon

That one stumps me. (I didn't write this program, btw, so I don't have all the answers). But I'll check with the tech support for it and see what they have to say about it. I can't imagine why that would affect it, but I'll see what I can find out.

The program most likely checks for the phrase "Disallow" and prevents signing up. My programmer wrote a script like this as well, and we also forgot to check for the user-agent to see whom it was applied to...

It's tough business that robots.txt stuff!

Thanks, Dazzlindonna. We will get this straightened our one day. Seems like the halloween gremlins are out early. I have cookies bllocked. That may be the problem. Willl temporarily unblock and try again.

So much for cookie idea. Stilll no luck. Could problem be I have a style statement handling my links. Thought I might have miscoded but when I tried the link it works.

I received the bogus error message. I then temporarily removed robots.txt and the check worked fine. I believe randfish is correct.

I actually gave you two links from two seperate pages. One to your directory and one to the third-party site.

I found a place where I could uncheck the part that tells it to check for robots.txt, so I've done that (at least until I hear back from tech support). I think randfish is right too...it must just be looking for any disallows, which of course is dumb. So for now, I've turned that off. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

It worked like a charm when I tried it tonight. It is good we have some good detectives reading the posts.

    Thanks,

I'm missing something, I though it had to be a three way link. I tried adding site A, with a link to you from site b, and it said both URL's had to be on the same domain.

Site admin has required that the URL you are submitting be on the same domain as the reciprocal URL

When I did it with the same domain, it added ok.
