I've read an article about a month ago that there is a new SE that will be coming out from Europe. I can't remember what it is and supposed to give Google a run for their money (I really don't believe that - but hey, there's always hope). Just wondering if anyone knows the name of this new SE. I just can't remember it.
I do not think any new search engine can compete with google at this stage unless and until they do something very very special. On this topic, i am going to make one thread to see the peopel's opinions..
Says on their main page that Wolfram launches next month. Wonder what (if any) media / marketing campaign they are going to try to get the word out about it.
I highly doubt it will even threaten google. Google owns too much, if they have it their way they'll even own Twitter soon!
There is also one more European search engine named Quaero that had got alot of money from EU, i think that Quaero will be a serious competion for google.
New Search Engine Wolfram Alpha "Could Be As Important As Google" A British scientist is preparing to launch a new search engine that avoids current search deficiencies by understanding the queries and answering them directly. Launching a new search engine these days is a dangerous venture. Saying it “could be as important as Google†is a major claim for something that hasn’t even debuted yet.
I would love to see a search engine giving google a run for it's money but seriously I doubt this would ever happen. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
I am getting updates on their progress as have tried to get Beta Access I post links to their updates here
