Who knows if cuil will become genuine competitor to google? In the present they have alot of work to do.
Clearly Cuil isn't where they want to be yet in terms of efficiently providing info., however it also seems clear that there is overwhelming demand for an alternative to Google. I have nothing against Google, but I do feel it's dangerous to have too much power concentrated by one company.
Cuils is not the google killer or something similar. If you search for COBOL on Cuil, you will find nothing, and Cobol is one of the oldest programming language ever... Instead if you search on Google, you will find about 8 million pages, so what is best?? Nothing can't beat Google... The only which is near to do it is Yahoo. Two curious facts: - Cuil was founded by ex-employers of Google. - Cuil uses Google Analytics
Maybe I don't have the need to search such niche topics as COBOL But I think that, at least taking English SERPs into account, for the phrases that I tend to use, Cuil is as good (if not better) than GOOG! ^^
Sure....If your ok with having only a quarter of all the results you could get from google. Cuil has a long way to go before it is any where near as good, or better than google. The only thing keeping them running today is an awesome marketing campaign, which will soon end in failure once everyone realizes Cuil is not what it claims to be. That statement is a bit premature dont you think. They've got everyones attention, but if they cant back up what they claim to be (which they clearly aren't) then they will fail. IMO they are below yahoo and MSN
In EVERYONES opinions they are below yahoo and MSN, lets see if they can redress that in the next 2/3 years though, some decent SE competition can only be a good thing.
I am rank 2 for my target keyword in cuil, I hope it becomes popular lol. I'm just rank 5+6 in Google.
They still have a long way to go but from what I have seen thus far, they certainly have the potential.
Fortunately, what usually counts is quality, not quantity. Unfortunately, I have to revise my opinion - I do not find their results as matching as those by G.
I am blocking cuil's bot from all of my sites, because their search sucks and their bot is a waste of my bandwidth just put this in your robots.txt file to block cuil bot: User-agent: twiceler Disallow: /
Google dominates them IMO. They sent me to a dead link so I went back and looked for the cache of the page and they didn't have it so I'll stick w/ google.
Agreed, it does not return relevant result. It makes the web more complicated. Google will still be number 1 while HopHunt.com will catch up.
