I suppose this could be done by anyone practically, even if he/she is not registered at DP and has just read a suitable thread.

a lot of scammers are not even members, they read a thread where the user has posted his yahoo contact details and bam, before you know it the scammer has made a yahoo account and paypal account and done the deal before the member realizes what a dumbass he has been to fall for a scam so easy

Good advice. But don't fall into the trap of thinking "they've got lots of rep and 350+ iTraders so they must be trustworthy." Not always the case. All that glistens isn't gold around here.

I have had a few requests via email. I thought wtf? Where in the world do these people get my emails. I think maybe via whois. But what they want hanothing to do with the domain. So my only other thought would be scammers who scan forums like DP to get emails. People can just not post their emails in their profiles to avoid such emails.

But anyways, It appears we either have a lot of scammers scouring DP lately. Either that or we are getting a lot of users who are crying wolf because they just didnt pay attention more carefully. DP users should be more careful with their business dealings.
