I am noticing a significant increase in the amount of email messages I am getting which contain zipped attachments which contain email viruses. This is most likely the start of the April Fool's Day onslaught. My system blocks most of these. But, the attackers have been using a dictionary to create a list of users at one of my domains and blasting them out across the internet. This suggests a more conscious beginning of the attack by a few individuals. They are returning to me as bounced messages, with the zipped virus package attached. This is an old style attack. But, it is worth mentioning so that people do not start opening the zipfiles to see what they are all about. If you receive an email with a live or zipped attachment from some random person, kill it. If it comes from someone you know, find out if they meant to send it before opening. And, then make sure you have updated your anti-virus software and that you scan all attachments first.
