Hi everyone, I am going to have a VERY large project coming up in the future (very expensive) and need to investigate how I'm going to go about doing it. In my opinion the concept a great one, and is something that no one is doing at the moment.

I need some advice on what language is going to be used and how we can go about setting the engine/software up, and how much it is likely to cost. The thing is, I obviously don't want someone stealing the idea.

Is there any way of getting advice/ a consultation without having someone rip off your idea?!!

use metaphors when describing your project, with people in other areas.
the ideea can be stollen afterwards, eighter way, quite quickly i might add, especially by a someone with a larger audience.

    Or a larger budget.

Yes, NDA, leave out pivotal details as much as possible, use broad strokes in discussion (especially without an NDA).
Go to a reputable business, whether it's a lone wolf or a corporation, make sure they are not just out there learning their way into business online, your project does not need help from such people until you have the management of it taken care of.
Get additional information about the person/company before you divulge information like address, phone number, full name etc. Get the business registration number on the contract...
Record communication and keep all records of everything, and keep them organized and easily accessible.
Make sure the person you're talking to has something of their own to keep them busy. For example, when you see I have www.stablehosting.ca, a business that requires regular work, along with many other websites, domain names, and things going on... It's hard enough to for somebody freely telling me their idea to get me to do anything about it unless they are paying my company to, somebody in a position like mine, and somebody who has staff relying on them, and overhead for their business, physical locations publicly listed, there is just no benefit for a guy like me, I've got more ideas than I can act on and I'm just here to help others in hopes it will be reciprocated. There is no guess work in being contracted for work, I get to help others and it's guaranteed to be reciprocated, and with money! :)
Psychology is your friend. Learn to read people and read between the lines. You can tell a lot more about a person's intentions than meets the eyes if you think about it and you have the tools. Gut feelings, when listened to properly and the ability to honed, can be very accurate. However, if you're the type of person that is constantly afraid, worried, anxious, that will not help. You've trained your 'gut' to see danger everywhere in everything and everyone, so you're likely to find it when it isn't there and not be able to tell the difference without polluting the image in front of you with your own pre-programmed anxious responses... Like starting a negotiation or deal by announcing about your experiences being scammed, (or lack of experience online, that's a great bait for a manipulative person after your money) or your need to make SURE you can't get ripped off... Let those things sit in your back of the mind while you focus on positive reinforcement and positive energy solutions. "I don't want to get scammed' -- reprogram this in your mind (say it 50,000 times, seriously, take a year to get there or whatever but keep doing it) - to "I want this to go really well" or anything else along those lines.
