Hey guys, so I had a couple of people PM me about the keyword costs on google so I though I would talk about it.

Sure, a keyword like "Disney Tickets" or "Disney Hotels" or "Disney World" are going to be expensive keywords because you are competing against a lot of big budget advertisers who can afford to pay $1 per click.

They keyword list on my affiliates page was mined using keyword spy for many disney related sites. I have about 1700 keywords in that list and most of them are good quality and a lot of them have no competition.

Yesterday, I grabbed the whole list, threw it into Yahoo, split it into 4 Ad Groups, and started making two ads for each ad group. I bid 12 cents a click and activated it. I then went back in and adjusted the minimum bids for the keywords that didn't activate. Most only need to be bumped to 13-15 cents and I think the highest was set to 28 cents.

I turned off the content network and search partners. Set it and forget it. First sale from Yahoo came this morning at a total CPA of $6.18 and a ROAS of 324%.

Mind you, this is direct linking, no review page or product recommendation page. Strictly old school here. Most PPC'ers (including myself) know that a landing page in between will usually double your conversion rate. I find that a personal recommendation page does even better.

Also, this campain is very raw. Generally after I see a campaign converts (even if it's not profitable at first), I will begin to trim down the ad groups so only profitable keywords remain. I go for 20-50 keywords per ad group when it's all done. It's very positive to see this kind of return so early in a campaign.

So, why do I tell you this???

First, because this product converts and I want you to promote it. A lot of people have commented on this thread that the product "looks good" but haven't taken any action. IT CONVERTS!

Second, a lot people think Google is the only place for PPC when, in fact, it's often the worst place to spend your PPC dollars. Google makes the rules and they set the minimum bids to whatever they want. It's very frustrating to want to bid on a keyword with very little competition but the minimum bid is set so high that you are priced out. I do use google A LOT, but it's my third choice for PPC.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey Dmitry, glad to have you on board. I would definitely try Yahoo and MSN too if doing PPC.

It finally looks like affiliates are starting to take notice now that this whole swine flu scare is over. This is the prime time to be promoting this product as people are in prime vacation planning mode right now!

Gravity is pushing 5. One affiliate, in particular, is really doing well with this.
