Stephen Elop is now the new leader of Microsoft. He's only 44 years of age. I'm sure Mr Bill will continue to influence decisions.

I think working in mid sized firms has an advantage for him. Microsoft is too big and looks at thing in the perspective of a giant. It helps to introduce new blood who looks at things from a mid size firm angle. Instead of looking at the entire Microsoft as an entity, he could look at each division as a mid size firm and strategized from there. This would in turn helps to make Microsoft more flexible and more adaptable to changes.

Bill Gates will definitely be behind him. I can't believe he will just let go of the baby he nurtured for his entire life. But I do see him play a much more active role in his charity foundation and hopefully that would benefit the world much more than Microsoft products.

BTW I am a huge fan of Bill Gates :)

I don't know how he will do, but he sure will get a nice chunk of change in share options. Its ridicelous how CEOs get millions even after they make a mess of the company they are running.

I really don't think if you built a multi-billion dollar company, you could walk away and not be a part of important decisions. I still think he is going to be a part of decisions and the creative process, but he is not going to be in the public eye as far as the company goes. At least that's what I'm hoping......
