I don't think they are on the domain age as i got PR3 for a one month old domain www.abhishekspeaks.com my personal blog and i am overwhelmed with this.. I am also ranking for some keywords... This all happened in just 30 days... and I used all my knowledge to get this I am happy that i am rewarded to..
How can a one month old blog (showcasepoint.com) with less than 60 backlinks got a PR5? Is Google PageRank accurate anymore?
I think it is quite intersting idea about dropping pagerank for the exact quantity of points. I mean Google says, we will run the update and then drop all sites for 2 points. May be it is not enough 10 point in the pagerank toolbar already, as many sites are getting high with pagerank too fast and of such situation will continue a very big percent of sites will reach 10 easily So, the idea was just to drop all sites for two points. And it is possible that the system was not updated for 100% so many sites just jumped to 6-5 PR. The reason I write this is that my sites mainly droped in pagerank, and the pagerank I have now I can calculate like predicted pagerank - 2 points = PR I have.
getting a pr10 is pretty much unrealistic. i know good and very well visited sites with probably x00.000 members that have been arround since 1997 or so, and still "only" have a pr 8. think you do very well if you reach a pr 7 without buying any high pr links. you can get a pr9 if you have a very popular social network site like myspace where users link to their own profile in each blog comment, and/or generate a lot of (more or less usefull) content 24/7.
well, my 12+ low PR sites have all gained from 1 to 3 PR points, I realise this puts me in the absolute minority of webmasters, the only thing that I can attribute this to would be that I have never paid for links, and all my sites are genuine content related sites, no adwords sh*ite or other "spammy" sites....
I agree with above, a PR7 is all that a mere mortal could ever aim for I fear - frankly a strong PR6 I think would be exceptional for most sites. There are ofcourse the exceptions to the rule, social networking sites and forum sites inherrently lend themselves to the PR calculations, so the biggest of each will no doubt get a good PR level. Its just not feasible for small to medium sized websites, regardless of content.
Well i dont care if the google pr dance what cares me is the traffic from where ever it comes . and its not important that google pr worth me anymore.
Dude, PR toolbar just displays where you are at the moment, export doesn't means something changed to your site, lol.
Too much is being read into the google pr update. I don't think that age would be a deciding factor for pr rating. Or else all droped domains would become gold overnight.
I got a PR3 for my 2 months old URL.. I guess migrating all the posts from blogger to wordpress did the job.. PR3 in 2 months is great.. and I promise not to sell text link ads ever....never!! http://www.nofullstop.com/2007/10/28/compuworld-is-2-months-old-and-has-a-page-rank-3/
