New pages - resubmit?

We are adding new pages to our site all of the time. One of my co-workers seems to think we should submit each new page to Google, MSN, etc each time we add a page.

Is this ok to do? Will it help, hurt?

Just create a sitemap.xml file and add your new pages to it as you post them. Point to your sitemap.xml file with your robots.txt file and you will be fine.

It would be better if you can submit new sitemaps right after you adding new page to your sites.

I can't say whether it would hurt you, but I don't think it would be beneficial. As long as your index page has been submitted to Google, the Google Bot will crawl and follow links to the rest of your pages periodically.

If your site has been indexed and is updated regularly, Google can pick up the updates very quickly. Many of my new pages are crawled within the same day they go up.

As a general practice, when I add a new page I put a link to it on the "Recent" section of my home page. I keep the link up there at least until the new page is indexed.

There is no need to submit new pages to search engines, as how many times you do this. Just create a sitemap.xml file and update it after every new addition. This way the robots crawl properly each and every page of your website.

This is indeed the correct thing to do. Unfortunately, it seems that the sitemap.xml does stimulate crawling, but the pages are not always immediately indexed.

    NO, it doesn't help !

the amount of pages google will index depends on the amount of links you have

the best tip is above; give them a link from the homepage for a few days

but of course; most important; keep getting more links !

There is no need to submit each new page to Google. You just update your sitemap.xml file for google and urllist.txt for yahoo and upload it.You can link it through your relevant older page.
