Go to your c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file (open it with WordPad), and add this:

    66.102.9.104 toolbarqueries.google.com

Thats for Windows 2000, your version of Windows might differ...

It's about time - I've been waiting for a PR update for quite some time. My sites went from a 2PR to a 4PR, and 0PR to a 3PR. After waiting so long, I'm glad they went up instead of down. That would have been a bummer:-(

Well it's more about rankings than PR and links. So if your rankings are still good, then be happy. :)

They went down about 1 each this morning but they are still pretty good, bringing in lots, but when you PR changes it makes drastic changes to my rankings, always looking for that PR6!

When PageRank is publicly reported (as it was today), Google has already taken it into account long beforehand (same with back links). So really, you shouldn't see any greater fluctuations in your ranks on those days than any other day.

I get the feeling they are on a 7-14 day cycle for the internal PR/back link stuff. Because every 1 1/2 weeks or so, I have lots of movement.

Might want to see someone about that ;)

Im not really expecting any increase in traffic, but backlinks should be much easier with PR4 links page, and now have a Google directory entry - much traffic come from the directory?

I get no traffic from the directory... it's main value is that it counts as a back link.

Does anybody get traffic from directories??? It would never ever occur to me to search in a directory. The first problem is that you can never figure out the damn categories. There seems to be a meriad of places that a page can be.

I really think directories are totally useless except possibly as sources of backlinks.

I've never received a single visitor from a directory. You're right on compar - the catagories are confusing. Why would anyone search through 10 layers of crap to find something when they can launch a search from any of the popular SE's and get good info?

I'm in agreement - directories are good for back links and nothing more. I have sites I never even bother submitting to the directories. Almost seems to be more effort than it's worth.

Congratulations. There is an exception to every rule. Let us know in a week or so what percentage of your visitors come from the directory.

I get a couple from directories too... Less than 10 per week. Overall, it's about 0.000001% of search engine traffic.

I get 1 visitor every few days for that site, so probably not enough to be statistically valid ;) But will let you know, hehe
