New guy here trying to receive good ranks on my web page. I have read plenty from this site and figure i would show up and post a few questions. I am from Michigan starting a new business as a Wildlife Management Professional. I felt a web presence was needed to show our company is for real.

I figure I am a novice at this, joining the ranks of the novice webmasters. I don't do this for a living, but the contents on this page is my life. The internet has become a great marketing tool for me. I will be asking advice from the experience crew, I hope you will be able to help me.

My cousin set up the template, but I have set the content of the web site and many of the links. It is constantly growing but I am at the SEO stage right now. I am impatient like most people, impatient for Google and Yahoo to start providing results. MSN has better than expected results but need more work on some keywords and links. I feel my content is unique. There is many more URL's out there promoting same type service but I like to be the best at everything I do.

    Thanks for reading

    Hi VV,

First off, great company name! :) After taking a look at your site, and assuming it's your first, I'd say you're doing quite well. Your meta tags look good, and while I'm not an expert on code, the fact that it's w3c vailidated is a definite plus. As far as suggestions for improvement, I'd encourage you to continue pursuing SEO, and try to capture the basics first, rather than trying to tackle the whole SEO piece at once. For example, adding the keywords you're optimizing for in your title before (or in place) of your company's name is a simple change that should yield immediate results. It looks as if you've already done this on your sub-pages, so this would only apply to your home page. You may also want to peruse the website design forums for ideas on giving the site a "slicker" look. It probably won't make too much of a difference from an SEO perspective, but it could provide some "viral" traffic (i.e. word of mouth), which is a great way to go for a site such as yours.

    Best of luck. :)

    Sam
