Been working hard on making sure this validates perfectly: http://www.autismnews.co.uk Comments on generaly usability are welcome - the search facility will be online soon.
Well, I'm sure it validates, but it's not very attractive. As far as usability comments, it'll be hard to comment until you get a little bit more content up. I commend you on making sure everything validates though, I know it can be a headache.
You need more content. and give your site more life by using attractive design and layout and make your font readable
making a site validate "perfectly" is a pointless waste of time. Content is the most important thing - everything else is secondary.
New stories will be posted daily or every other day as of now. I'm still unsure on what is unattractive about the current design - do you have any specific comments?
I've seen sites validate and not work in certain browsers and site not validate and work good in all modern browsers. As a matter of fact look at your site in firefox and click on search and watch what happenes to the text. Is the only way to look at other news stories to do a search? It's the only way I see and sometimes I like to read head lines to see whats going on in the news. The design is not that bad, I would make a nice logo for the header and remove the text and maybe play with the background color a little.
Search is not yet implemented, as there are no other stories yet. Once there's enough stories for search to be meaningful then i'll start implementing it.
Increase font size a little. Change the logo text to something darker that will pop out more. Other than that...just keep the content coming and you'll make changes as it grows gasmonso
I have a child with a disability so have scoured hundreds of sites desperate for information. I would land on your site eventually and I would need alittle more than news to hold me, reference links for specific issues, disabilities like aspergers for instance. Keep in mind, parents and those seeking out your type of information site know alot already so your content depth needs to be deeper and more complex. Maybe with your news you can put a reference link, more information on that article. Keep me reading at your site with more layers. Hope that helps from a potential visitor!
Hi Gareth, Yep, change font to Arial or Verdana. Times new roman is so 90's oh, and remove the W3Org buttons at the bottom - they are distracting and serve no purpose to your audience. Hope this helps Stuey
Amy, you've written so many good articles and original content you deserve to get a good ranking. It's so refreshing to see someone as dedicated as you getting results and that Google recognizes this! Regards Stuey
Hi GN I would suggest not to go public until you "coming soon" is removed. 1) use atractive font and try to use <h1...2..> or any 2) need to add meta description 3) change background color to white. 4) keep only two column and see some others http://news.google.com/news?q=jumpi....mozilla:en-US:official&sa=X&oi=news&ct=title Submit your site to us to increase traffic and link popularity. Good Luck
Is this autism site at the head of this post actually a PR 5, and if so how does that happen with scant content and a brand new site? I know I'll learn all this stuff eventually but as soon as I think I understand, something that looks like a duck and walks like a duck ... isn't a duck!
There is a reason for it. There was a lot more content, though it is a totally new site of only a few weeks old. It was defaced and the script kiddie deleted all the contents. A better and more secure site needed to be made and that is what you see being made now.
I have lived alot of years and have never heard the term script kiddies, thank goodness you enlightened me (and I googled and read about those awful creatures). I swear, the more I learn, the more I see I don't know. So sorry about your site and I see that you are both serious Autism experts so please forgive my earlier post. Your sites are amazing in their content. That looks like years of work. With sites about to go up myself, I will be much more careful about security and backing things up. Thank you for answering me.
